Test F: 4-Wheel Drive Control Module Does Not Respond To NGS Tester
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect 17-pin 4-Wheel Drive (4WD) control module harness connector C281A, located behind right side kick panel. See Fig 1
. Inspect 4WD control module harness connector for physical damage, bent terminals or corrosion. Repair 4WD control module harness connector as necessary and retest system for normal operation. If 4WD control module harness connector is okay, go to next step.
- Measure resistance in Light Blue/White wire between 4WD harness connector C281A terminal No. 4 and Data Link Connector (DLC) terminal No. 7. See Figure
and Fig 2
. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Light Blue/White wire between 4WD control module and DLC. Retest system for normal operation.
- Disconnect all 4WD control module harness connectors. Inspect 4WD control module harness connectors for physical damage, bent terminals or corrosion. Repair 4WD control module harness connectors as necessary. Reconnect all 4WD control module harness connectors. Retest system for normal operation. If problem still exists, replace 4WD control module. Perform DATA LINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST
. If problem no longer exists, system is okay at this time.
