Removal (Service Kit Ocs)

- Before proceeding, see AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS . Disable air bag system. See DISABLING SYSTEM under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM.
- Remove right front seat. See FRONT SEAT . On models equipped with climate controlled seat, release recliner handle cover tab and remove cover. See Figure . Remove right side shield screws, disconnect power seat switch connector, if equipped and remove side shield. Remove left side shield screws and side shield. On all models, separate side air bag module electrical connector and wire harness pin-type retainers from seat riser and cushion pan.
- On models equipped with climate controlled seat, separate climate control duct and disconnect seat back thermal electric device electrical connector. Disconnect seat cushion heated seat element electrical connectors. Remove seat back-to-seat track bolts and seat back. On all models, disconnect necessary electrical wire harnesses and connectors to remove seat cushion assembly. Remove seat cushion bolts.
- Disconnect any remaining electrical connectors and pin-type retainers and remove seat cushion assembly. See Figure . Release seat cushion trim cover "J" clips from seat cushion pan. If installing OCS service kit or NEW seat cushion trim cover, remove hog rings, reach hand between trim cover and foam pad and separate velcro strips. Separate trim cover from foam pad.
- Disconnect OCS pressure sensor connector. Using suitable tool, pry bracket tab, releasing pressure sensor. Separate pressure sensor from seat cushion pan. Disconnect any OCS and remove any retainers from wiring harness. Remove OCS Electronic Control Unit (ECU) rivets. Feed OCS hose, transducer wire harness, OCS ECU and electrical connector through seat cushion pan opening.WARNING: Foreign objects between OCS components and seat cushion frame and support assembly may cause air bags to improperly deploy. Personal injury may result. Ensure OCS components, seat cushion frame and support assembly are free of any foreign objects during reassembly.CAUTION: Improper routing of OCS components can cause binding or pinching of components. Damage to OCS components may result. Failure to route OCS components through correct seat cushion support opening can cause OCS component failure and air bag system malfunction. Ensure OCS components are properly routed during reassembly.NOTE: When installing new OCS, a prepaid return postcard is included with new part. The serial number for the new part and Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) must be recorded on postcard, and sent to Ford Motor Co. Fill out the necessary information on the OCS traceability card and return it with the complete inoperative OCS unit. When returning the inoperative OCS unit, include: seat cushion foam pad, bladder, OCS ECU, pressure sensor (transducer), hose, electrical connectors and wire harness (service part OCS unit only).
