Float Test

Ensure fuel tank is less than half full. Remove fuel fill cap to relieve pressure and reinstall cap. Under rear of vehicle, remove fuel pipe cover. Disconnect ORVR fuel tank vapor recirculation hose and connect a vacuum pump/gauge to hose. Plug ORVR fuel tank vapor recirculation pipe. See Fig 1. Apply vacuum to hose. If vacuum does not hold, float is okay. Go to VALVE TEST . If vacuum holds, replace ORVR fuel tank vapor control valve.
