USB Input Sound Is Low Or Cannot Be Heard (With Navigation)
- Check the vehicle battery condition first (see BATTERY TEST ).
- Check the connectors for poor connections or loose terminals.
- Not all players and player functions work with the USB adapter. Please see the Owner's Manual for more information.
- Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
- Check to see if there is a specific speaker that has no sound.
Do all speakers make a sound?
YES - Go to step 3.
NO - Go to NO SOUND IS HEARD FROM SPEAKER(S) (DISPLAY IS NORMAL) (WITH NAVIGATION) .
- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
- On the customer's vehicle, connect the customer's USB device to the USB adapter.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
- Turn on the audio system.
- Press the AUX button until USB appears on the navigation display.
- Check if the USB device can be operated with the audio-navigation unit (Folders of Files UP/DOWN, etc.).
Can you operate the USB device, and is the sound normal?
YES - Intermittent failure. The USB device is OK at this time.
NO - If you can operate the USB device, but there is no sound, go to step 9. If you cannot operate the USB device, go to USB DEVICE DOES NOT FUNCTION (WITH NAVIGATION) .
- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
- Connect the customer's USB device to a known-good vehicle (same year/trim) that is equipped with a USB adapter, and check the USB device operation.
Is the USB device working properly in the known-good vehicle?
YES - Go to step 11.
NO - USB device is faulty. Also check the USB adapter 5P connector condition.
- Return to the customer's vehicle.
- Disconnect audio-navigation unit connector D (14P).
- Disconnect USB adapter unit connector A (14P).
- Disconnect XM receiver connector A (14P).
- Check for continuity between audio-navigation unit connector D (14P) and body ground according to the table below.AUDIO-NAVIGATION UNIT CONNECTOR REFERENCE TABLE
Audio-Navigation Unit Connector Wire Color D5 WHT D6 RED D13 BLU D14 GRN Is there any continuity?
YES - Short to body ground in the wire(s) between the audio-navigation unit and the USB adapter unit. Replace the affected shielded harness.
NO - Go to step 16.
- Check for continuity between the terminals of audio-navigation unit connector D (14P) according to the table below.TERMINAL REFERENCE TABLE
From Terminal To Terminals D4 (GRY) D5 (WHT), D6 (RED), D13 (BLU), D14 (GRN) D5 (WHT) D6 (RED), D13 (BLU), D14 (GRN) D6 (RED) D13 (BLU), D14 (GRN) D13 (BLU) D14 (GRN) Is there continuity between any of the terminals?
YES - Short in the wires between the audio-navigation unit and the USB adapter unit. Replace the affected shielded harness.
NO - Go to step 17.
- Check for continuity between audio-navigation unit connector D (14P) and USB adapter unit connector A (14P) according to the table below.CONNECTOR REFERENCE TABLE

YES - Substitute a known-good USB adapter control unit (see USB ADAPTER UNIT REPLACEMENT ), then reconnect all of the connectors, and recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away, replace the original USB adapter control unit. If the symptom/indication is still present, replace the audio-navigation unit (see AUDIO-NAVIGATION UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ).
NO - Open in the wire(s) between the audio-navigation unit and the USB adapter unit. Replace the affected shielded harness.
