Keyless Access System Description - Control/Function (2015 2017)
Smart Entry Function
The keyless access control unit detects the input signal of the door outer handle touch sensor or the door lock switch, and authenticates 2-way communication with the remote. Then the keyless access control unit sends a door lock signal, door unlock signal, and an answer back signal to the MICU via B-CAN line.
Keyless Entry Function
The keyless access control unit receives a keyless transmitter signal from the remote, and authenticates the RF signal. Then the keyless access control unit sends a door lock/unlock signal to the MICU via the B-CAN.
Backup Communication Function
The keyless access system has a backup communication feature: If the keyless battery goes dead, touch the remote to the power switch on the dashboard. The remote transponder then receives an immobilizer code from the power switch, allowing you to start the vehicle.
Remote Engine Start System
Start the Engine
The remote engine start function is initiated by pressing the lock button, and then pressing the remote engine start button on the remote transmitter within 5 seconds.
An RF signal from the transmitter is received by the keyless access control unit, then the keyless access control unit sends the request to start the engine to the PCM. At same time, the keyless access control unit authenticates the key for the immobilizer system.
The keyless access control unit also disables the power windows and the gauge control module illumination by sending a signal via the B-CAN to all related control units.
The Keyless access control unit disables the headlights and the windshield wiper by sending the remote engine start signal via the B-CAN to the MICU and not sending the IG1-REM signal.
Remote Engine Start Link
The climate control unit, the rear window defogger, and the mirror defoggers are activated through the keyless access control unit via the B-CAN.
Key Lockout Prevent Function
The lockout function observes the key switch signal input. If the input is "ON" (remote in the vehicle), the system will not lock the doors.
If the driver manually locks and closes the doors with a remote in the vehicle (input ON), the MICU energizes the driver's door actuator and unlocks the driver's door.
If the remote is in the trunk, the system will not lock the trunk lid even if you close it.
Fault Diagnosis Function
The system has a fault diagnosis function. If any malfunction occurs, the keyless access system indicator comes on in the gauge control module.
Keyless Remote Search Function
Determines if the remote is present inside the vehicle during some operation or function.
Electric Steering Lock (Canada model)
The electric steering lock control unit is built into the electric steering lock and it controls the steering lock motor. When the remote code is identified, the electric steering lock control unit unlocks the steering lock by controlling the steering lock motor.
Backup Fuse Check Function
The keyless access control unit checks the backup fuse. If the fuse is blown, the LF antenna does not output an LF wave. Once the remote has been authenticated, this information is stored in the keyless access control unit.
Lighting and indicator Function
The keyless access control unit controls the power switch indicator, displays information in the multi-information display, and illuminates the keyless access system indicators in the gauge control module.
Registration Facility
The keyless access control unit can store up to 6 remotes with the HDS.
Customer Emergency
If you must stop the engine in an emergency situation, do either of the following:
- Press and hold the power switch button.
- Press the power switch two times continuously.
Panic Function
When you press the PANIC button on the remote, the keyless access control unit sends a signal to the MICU via the B-CAN to sound the horn and activates the exterior lights.
