DTC P1440: Traction Motor Control Module Gate Line Open (57) (2017)
General Description
An open in the gate drive-wire, an OFF failure of the motor power inverter (MPI) module (traction), an open in the motor power cable, an open in the three-phase line, or an open in the motor coil causes a deviation from the target torque value of the traction motor. The motor control module (traction) detects these system failures by monitoring each phase current change or monitoring each output power change. Occurrence of open in the gate drive-wire and motor power cable line and the MPI module (traction) OFF fault causes decrease in inflow or outflow of the current of the failed phase (inflow decreases in the event of high side open and outflow decreases in the event of Low side open) causing distortion of the current from the other two phases. As a result, the deviation between the target phase current and actual phase current increases significantly. Malfunction is detected according to deviation of the phase current.

Diagnosis Details
Conditions for setting the DTC
When a malfunction is detected, the POWER SYSTEM indicator comes on and a Pending DTC, a Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data are stored in the motor control module (traction) memory.
Conditions for clearing the DTC
The Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, the POWER SYSTEM indicator and the freeze data can be cleared with the scan tool Clear command or by disconnecting the 12 volt battery.
