DTC 2623: Compass Diag (Display Audio) (2016-17)

NOTE:

Check the vehicle battery condition first .
This audio DTC sets when Connection NG is indicated in the electrical compass unit diagnosis (the compass unit icon is red in the System Links).
Before you troubleshoot, make sure to follow the General Troubleshooting Information - Refer to: How to Troubleshoot the Audio System, or Audio System Self-Diagnostic Function (Without Navigation, Without Touch Screen), or Audio System Self-Diagnostic Function (Without Navigation, With Touch Screen), or How to Troubleshoot the Audio System (Display Audio) (2016-17) .
Check the connectors for poor connections or loose terminals.

Problem verification
-1. Clear the hard error codes.

- 2. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode then the ON mode.

- 3. Check for hard error codes.

Is DTC 2623 indicated?

YES

The failure is duplicated, go to step 2.

NO

Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time.

Open wire check (IG1 METER line)

-1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

- 2. Disconnect the following connector.

Electrical compass unit 6P connector

- 3. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

- 4. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.

Test condition	Vehicle ON mode
	Electrical compass unit 6P connector: disconnected
Test point 1	Electrical compass unit 6P connector No. 6 - Refer to: Electrical Compass Unit Connector for Inputs and Outputs (2013 2014), or Electrical Compass Unit Connector for Inputs and Outputs (2015)
Test point 2	Body ground

Is there battery voltage?

YES

The IG1 METER wire is OK. Go to step 3.

Repair an open in the wire between the No. B5 (7.5 A) fuse in the under-dash fuse/relay box and the electrical compass unit.

Open wire check (GND line)

-1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

- 2. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

Test condition	Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
	Electrical compass unit 6P connector: disconnected
Test point 1	Electrical compass unit 6P connector No. 5 - Refer to: Electrical Compass Unit Connector for Inputs and Outputs (2013 2014), or Electrical Compass Unit Connector for Inputs and Outputs (2015)
Test point 2	Body ground

Is there continuity?

YES

The GND wire is OK. Go to step 4.

NO: 2-door

Repair an open or high resistance in the wire between the electrical compass unit and body ground (G601).

NO: 4-door

Repair an open or high resistance in the wire between the electrical compass unit and body ground (G652).

Shorted wire check (COMPASS lines) 1

-1. Disconnect the following connector.

Audio unit connector J (28P)

- 2. Check for continuity between these test points and body ground individually.

Test condition	Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
	Electrical compass unit 6P connector: disconnected
	Audio unit connector J (28P): disconnected

Is there continuity?

YES

Repair a short to body ground in the wire (s) between the electrical compass unit and the audio unit.

The COMPASS wires are not shorted. Go to step 5.

Shorted wire check (COMPASS lines) 2

-1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

Test condition	Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
	Electrical compass unit 6P connector: disconnected
	Audio unit connector J (28P): disconnected

Test point 1: Electrical compass unit 6P connector - Refer to: Electrical Compass Unit Connector for Inputs and Outputs (2013 2014), or Electrical Compass Unit Connector for Inputs and Outputs (2015)	Test point 2: Electrical compass unit 6P connector - Refer to: Electrical Compass Unit Connector for Inputs and Outputs (2013 2014), or Electrical Compass Unit Connector for Inputs and Outputs (2015)

Is there continuity between any of the terminals?

YES

Repair a short in the wires between the electrical compass unit and the audio unit.

The COMPASS wires are not shorted. Go to step 6.

Open wire check (COMPASS lines)

-1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

Test condition	Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
	Electrical compass unit 6P connector: disconnected
	Audio unit connector J (28P): disconnected
