DTC 1306: Vehicle Speed Pulse
NOTE:
- Check the vehicle battery condition first .
- This navigation DTC sets when there is a problem with the VSP circuit.
- Check the GPS reception in an open area.
- Aftermarket metallic window tint or electronic devices located near the audio-navigation unit or the GPS antenna can potentially interfere with the operation of the navigation system.
- Before you troubleshoot, make sure to follow the General Troubleshooting Information - Refer to: How to Troubleshoot the Navigation System, or How to Troubleshoot the Navigation System (Display Audio) (2016-17) .
- Check any official Honda service website for more service information about the navigation system.
- Check the connectors for poor connections or loose terminals.
- Problem verification
-1. Clear the hard error codes.
- 2. Test-drive the vehicle at steady speed more than 12 mph (20 km/h) for about 1 minute.
- 3. Check for hard error codes.
Is DTC 1306 indicated?
YES
The failure is duplicated, go to step 2.
NO
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time.
- Determine possible failure area (audio-navigation unit, others)
-1. Go into the System Diagnostic Mode, and select the Car Status in the System Links to check the vehicle speed pulse.
- 2. With the help of an assistant test-drive the vehicle, and watch the VSP signal.
Does the VSP signal change from [0] (stopped) to [1] (driving) as you drive?
YES
Go to step 3.
NO
Go to step 4.
- PCM check
-1. Substitute a known-good PCM.
- 2. Clear the hard error codes.
- 3. Press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode and then select the ON mode.
- 4. Check for hard error codes.
Is DTC 1501 indicated?
YES
Replace the audio-navigation unit - Refer to: Audio-Navigation Unit Removal and Installation, or Audio-Navigation Unit Removal and Installation (Display Audio) (2016-17) .
NO
Replace the original PCM.
- Determine possible failure area (PCM, others)
-1. Press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.
- 2. Disconnect the following connector.
- 3. Press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.
- 4. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition ON mode PCM connector A (51P): disconnected Test circuit VSP J35Y1, Y2 engine
Test point 1 PCM connector A (51P) No. 49 (RED) Test point 2 Body ground K24W1 engine
Test point 1 PCM connector A (51P) No. 25 (RED) Test point 2 Body ground J35Y1, Y2 engine

Is there about 5.0 V?
YES
The VSP wire is OK. Go to step 5.
NO
Go to step 6.
- PCM check
-1. Press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.
- 2. Reconnect PCM connector A (51P) No. 49 or No. 25.
- 3. Raise the vehicle on a lift.
- 4. Press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.
- 5. Block or hold one tire so that it cannot rotate, and slowly rotate the other front tire.
- 6. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition ON mode, with the front tire slowly rotating Test circuit VSP Test point 1 Audio-navigation unit connector F (18P) No. 10 (RED) Test point 2 Body ground Does the voltage pulse between 0 V and 5 V as you rotate the tire?
YES
Replace the audio-navigation unit - Refer to: Audio-Navigation Unit Removal and Installation, or Audio-Navigation Unit Removal and Installation (Display Audio) (2016-17) .
NO
Substitute a known-good PCM - Refer to: PCM Removal and Installation (V6), or PCM Removal and Installation (L4) , and recheck.
- Open wire check (VSP line)
-1. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition ON mode PCM connector A (51P): disconnected Test circuit VSP Test point 1 Audio-navigation unit connector F (18P) No. 10 (RED) - Refer to: Audio-Navigation Unit Removal and Installation, or Audio-Navigation Unit Removal and Installation (Display Audio) (2016-17) Test point 2 Body ground Is there about 5.0 V?
YES
Repair an open in the wire between the audio-navigation unit and the PCM.
