DTC 2710: USB Cable Diag

NOTE: 

  1. Problem verification

    -1. Clear the hard error codes.

    - 2. Press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode and then select the ON mode.

    - 3. Check for hard error codes.

    Is DTC 2710 indicated?

    YES 

    The failure is duplicated, go to step 2.

    NO 

    Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time.

  2. USB icon check

    -1. Substitute a known-good USB device.

    - 2. Go into the System Diagnostic Mode, and select the USB in the System Links.

    Does the USB icon change color from red to green?

    YES 

    Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time.

    NO 

    Go to step 3.

  3. Shorted wire check (USB lines) 1

    -1. Press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.

    - 2. On the customer's vehicle, disconnect the customer's USB device from the USB port.

    - 3. Disconnect the following connector.

    Audio-navigation unit connector K (5P) - Refer to: Audio-Navigation Unit Removal and Installation, or Audio-Navigation Unit Removal and Installation (Display Audio) (2016-17)

    - 4. Check for continuity between these test points and body ground individually.

    Test condition OFF mode
      Audio-navigation unit connector K (5P): disconnected
    Connector  Test circuit  Terminal 
    Audio-navigation unit connector K (5P) USB VBUS No. 2
    USB DATA+ No. 3
    USB DATA- No. 4
    USB GND No. 1

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    Go to step 4.

    NO 

    The USB wires are not shorted to ground. Go to step 5.

  4. Shorted wire check (USB lines) 2

    -1. Disconnect the following connector.

    USB adapter 5P connector

    - 2. Check for continuity between these test points and body ground individually.

    Test condition OFF mode
      Audio-navigation unit connector K (5P): disconnected
    Connector  Test circuit  Terminal 
    Audio-navigation unit connector K (5P) USB VBUS No. 2
    USB DATA+ No. 3
    USB DATA- No. 4
    USB GND No. 1

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    Replace the USB adapter.

    NO 

    Replace the USB port.

  5. Shorted wire check (USB lines) 2

    -1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition OFF mode
      Audio-navigation unit connector K (5P): disconnected
      USB adapter 5P connector: disconnected
    Test circuits  Connector: Audio-navigation unit connector K (5P) 
    Test point 1  Test points 2 
    USB SH to USB VBUS, USB DATA+, USB DATA-, USB GND No. 5 No. 2, No. 3, No. 4, No. 1
    USB VBUS to USB DATA+, USB DATA-, USB GND No. 2 No. 3, No. 4, No. 1
    USB DATA+ to USB DATA-, USB GND No. 3 No. 4, No. 1
    USB DATA- to USB GND No. 4 No. 1

    Is there continuity between any of the terminals?

    YES 

    There is a short in the wires between the audio-navigation unit and the USB port. Replace the affected shielded harness.

    NO 

    The USB wires are not shorted in the wires. Go to step 6.

  6. Open wire check (USB lines, audio-navigation unit)

    -1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition OFF mode
      Audio-navigation unit connector K (5P): disconnected
    Test circuit  Test point 1: Audio-navigation unit connector K (5P)  Test point 2: USB port 5P connector 
    USB VBUS No. 2 No. 1
    USB DATA+ No. 3 No. 3
    USB DATA- No. 4 No. 2
    USB GND No. 1 No. 4

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    Replace the audio-navigation unit - Refer to: Audio-Navigation Unit Removal and Installation, or Audio-Navigation Unit Removal and Installation (Display Audio) (2016-17) .

    NO 

    Go to step 7.

  7. USB adapter check

    -1. Disconnect the following connector.

    USB adapter 5P connector

    - 2. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition OFF mode
      Audio-navigation unit connector K (5P): disconnected
      USB adapter 5P connector: disconnected
    Test circuit  Test point 1: Audio-navigation unit connector K (5P)  Test point 2: USB port 5P connector 
    USB VBUS No. 2 No. 1
    USB DATA+ No. 3 No. 3
    USB DATA- No. 4 No. 2
    USB GND No. 1 No. 4

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    Replace the USB port, then recheck.

    NO 

    Replace the USB adapter, then recheck.
