DTC 81-19: Yaw Rate Sensor (Inside of Modulator-Control Unit) Internal Circuit Malfunction; DTC 81-20: Acceleration Sensor (Inside of Modulator-Control Unit) Internal Circuit Malfunction

DTC Description DTC Freeze Frame
81-19 Yaw Rate Sensor (Inside of Modulator-Control Unit) Internal Circuit Malfunction    
81-20 Acceleration Sensor (Inside of Modulator-Control Unit) Internal Circuit Malfunction    
  1. Problem verification:
    • 1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
    • 2. Clear the DTC with the HDS.
    • 3. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), then turn it to ON (II) again.
    • 4. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

      81-19 Yaw Rate Sensor (Inside of Modulator-Control Unit) Internal Circuit Malfunction    
      81-20 Acceleration Sensor (Inside of Modulator-Control Unit) Internal Circuit Malfunction    

    Is DTC 81-19 or 81-20 indicated? 

    YES  : The failure is duplicated. Go to step 2.

    NO  : Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Refer to intermittent failures troubleshooting.

  2. VSA modulator-control unit check (update):

    Is DTC 81-19 or 81-20 indicated? 

    YES  : Check for loose terminals in the VSA modulator-control unit 38P connector. If the VSA modulator-control unit was updated and the symptom/indication is still present, replace the VSA modulator-control unit  See VSA SENSOR NEUTRAL POSITION MEMORIZATION , VSA MODULATOR-CONTROL UNIT REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION  or VSA MODULATOR-CONTROL UNIT UPDATE .

    NO  : Troubleshooting is complete. If any other DTCs are indicated, go to the indicated DTCs troubleshooting.
