Wiper System / Washer System (MICU) Input Test ('13: K24Z7)
NOTE:
- Refer to the Electrical Wiring Diagrams for the location of the under-dash fuse/relay box connectors.
- Before testing, make sure the No. A29 (10 A) fuse in the under-hood fuse/relay box, and the No. B5 (7.5 A), No. B28 (15 A), and No. B46 (30 A) fuses in the under-dash fuse/relay box are OK.
1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0)
2. Disconnect under-dash fuse/relay box connectors A, B, C, D, P, R, T, and W.NOTE: All connector views are shown from wire side of female terminals.
3. Inspect the connector and socket terminals to be sure they are all making good contact.
- If the terminals are bent, loose, or corroded, repair them as necessary, and recheck the system.
- If the terminals are OK, go to step 4.
4. With the connectors still disconnected, do the following input tests:
- If any test indicates a problem, find and correct the cause, then recheck the system.
- If all the input tests prove OK, go to step 5.
| Cavity | Wire | Test condition | Test: Desired result | Possible cause if desired result isnot obtained |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| C4 . C22 |
GRN . BLU |
Connect under-dash fuse/relay box connector A (5P), ignition switch ON (II) | Connect terminals C4 and A3, and terminal C22 to body ground with jumper wires: The windshield wiper motor should run at high speed. |
|
| P20 | BRN | In all ignition switch positions | Check for continuity to ground: There should be continuity. |
|
| R7 | BRN | In all ignition switch positions | Check for continuity to ground: There should be continuity. |
|
| T6* . T15 |
BLU . BLK |
Wiper/washer switch (Intermittent dwell time controller) turned ON. | Measure the resistance between terminals T6 and T15: The resistance should vary between 0 to 1 kΩ. |
|
| C32 | PUR | Connect under-dash fuse/relay box connector A (5P), ignition switch ON (II), then run the windshield wiper motor by connecting terminals C4 and A3, and terminal C22 and body ground with jumper wires. | Connect terminal C32 to body ground with a jumper wire: The windshield wiper motor speed should change from high speed to low speed. |
|
| C15 | ORN | Connect under-dash fuse/relay box connector A (5P), ignition switch ON (II) | Connect terminals C15 and A3 with a jumper wire: The windshield washer motor should run. |
|
| C23 | WHT | Connect under-dash fuse/relay box connector A (5P), ignition switch ON (II), then run the windshield wiper motor by connecting terminals C4 and A3, and terminal C22 and body ground with jumper wires. | Check for continuity to ground: The needle of the ohmmeter should pulse 1 time per wiper motor cycle.NOTE: Use a DVOM. |
|
*: With intermittent dwell time controller
5. Reconnect the connectors to the under-dash fuse/relay box, and do the following input tests:
- If any test indicates a problem, find and correct the cause, then recheck the system.
- If all the input tests prove OK, the MICU must be faulty; replace the under-dash fuse/relay box - Refer to: Under-Dash Fuse/Relay Box Removal and Installation(KA models with Keyless Access System)Under-Dash Fuse/Relay Box Removal and Installation(KA KX models without Keyless Access System) .
