HFL Switch Test/Replacement

Remove the driver's airbag (see DRIVER'S AIRBAG REPLACEMENT ).
Remove the steering wheel (see STEERING WHEEL REMOVAL ).
Remove the HFL-navigation voice control switch (see STEERING WHEEL DISASSEMBLY/REASSEMBLY ).

Measure the resistance between terminals No. 3 and No. 4 in each switch position according to the table.

Position	Resistance
No button pressed	About 1 kΩ
HFL TALK button pressed	About 185 Ω
HFL BACK button pressed	About 47 Ω

Use a diode tester between the terminals in each switch position according to the table.

If the diode tester is not as specified, replace the HFL switch (see STEERING WHEEL DISASSEMBLY/REASSEMBLY ).
Install the HFL switch in the reverse order of removal.
