  1. Vehicle - Lift
  2. Hood - Wide Open

    1. Open the hood, and secure it with the hood support rod (a) in the wide-open position (b).
  3. Fuel Pressure - Relieve - Refer to: Fuel Pressure Relieving () or Fuel Pressure Test ()
  4. 12 Volt Battery Terminal - Disconnect
  5. Cowl Cover - Remove
  6. Front Grille Cover - Remove
  7. Front Wheel - Remove
  8. Undercover Area Parts - Remove
    • Undercover Area
      • Splash Shield
      • Engine Undercover (Except TRAILSPORT)
      • Front Skid Plate (TRAILSPORT)
      • Left Front Inner Fender (As Needed)
      • Right Front Inner Fender (As Needed)
  9. Engine Oil Pressure Sensor Heat Insulator - Remove
  10. Engine Oil - Drain - Refer to: Engine Oil Replacement () or Engine Oil Level Check ()
  11. Engine Coolant - Drain - Refer to: Coolant Check () or Coolant Replacement ()
  12. ATF - Drain
  13. Transfer Assembly Fluid - Drain (AWD)
  14. Air Cleaner Area Parts - Remove
  15. Front Engine Harness Heat Insulator - Remove
  16. A/C Condenser Fan Shroud - Remove
  17. Alternator - Remove
  18. Wire Harness/Connector - Disconnect
  19. Hose - Disconnect
  20. Catalytic Converter Area Parts - Remove
    • Catalytic Converter Area
      • Under-Floor Three Way Catalytic Converter (Under-Floor TWC)
      • Rear Warm Up Three Way Catalytic Converter (WU-TWC) (Bank 1) (AWD)
  21. Engine Support Hanger - Install 
  22. Front Subframe/Steering Gearbox Area Parts - Remove/Disconnect
  23. Steering Joint - Disconnect
  24. Tie-Rod End Ball Joint - Disconnect
  25. Front Suspension Area Parts - Remove/Disconnect
    • Front Suspension Area
      • Front Stabilizer Link Ball Joint (Both Sides)
      • Front Lower Arm Ball Joint (Both Sides)
      • Damper Fork (Both Side)
      • Front Driveshaft (Both Sides)
      • Intermediate Shaft (AWD)
  26. A/C Compressor - Move
    • A/C Compressor

      NOTICE:  

      • Do not disconnect and excessively bend the suction hose and the discharge hose.
      • Hang the A/C compressor with a zip tie.
      • Do not allow the A/C compressor to hang by the suction or discharge hose.
  27. Transfer/Rear Differential Area Parts - Remove/Disconnect (AWD)
  28. Front Subframe - Remove
  29. Chain Hoist - Attach

    1. Install a chain hoist (a).

    NOTE: Attach a chain hoist to the engine hanger (b) and the transmission hanger (c), then lift the engine/transmission until it is securely supported by the chain hoist.

    2. Remove the engine support hanger and the extra arm kit.

  30. Side Engine Mount Bracket - Remove
  31. Engine - Remove
    1. Check that the engine/transmission is completely free of the vacuum hoses, fuel hoses, coolant hoses, and electrical harnesses.

    2. Slowly lower the engine/transmission about 150 mm (5.91 in). Check once again that all the hoses and electrical harnesses are disconnected and free from the engine/transmission, then lower it all the way and support it.

    3. Remove the chain hoist from the engine/transmission.

    4. Raise the vehicle, and remove the engine/transmission from under the vehicle.

  32. All Removed Parts - Install
    • Install the parts in the reverse order of removal.

      NOTICE:  

      After mounting the side engine mount, the transmission mount, and the torque rod, confirm the tightening procedure before installing the remaining parts.

  33. 12 Volt Battery Terminal - Connect
  34. Transfer Assembly Fluid - Refill (AWD)
  35. ATF - Refill
  36. Engine Oil - Refill - Refer to: Engine Oil Replacement () or Engine Oil Level Check ()
  37. Fuel Leak (Low Pressure Side) - Check
  38. Engine Coolant - Refill - Refer to: Coolant Check () or Coolant Replacement ()
  39. Fuel Leak (High Pressure Side) - Check
  40. Fluid Leak - Check
  41. PCM - Reset - Refer to: PCM Update ()  or PCM Reset () 
  42. PCM Idle - Learn 
  43. Idle Speed - Inspect 
  44. Ignition Timing - Inspect
  45. Wheel Alignment - Check
  46. VSA Sensor Neutral Position - Memorize - Refer to: VSA Modulator-Control Unit Update () or VSA Sensor Neutral Position Memorization ()
