Removal & Installation: CLOCKSPRING: Removal

  1. Place front wheels in straight ahead position. Remove upper and lower horn plate. Disconnect horn button connector. Remove steering wheel lock nut. Make alignment marks on steering wheel and steering wheel shaft.
    CAUTION: DO NOT hammer on steering wheel during removal. Damage may result to steering column.
  2. Using a puller, remove steering wheel. Disconnect horn connector located behind steering wheel. Remove upper and lower steering column covers. Remove driver's knee bolster.
  3. Disconnect clockspring connector and horn connector located near bottom of steering column. See Fig 1 . Remove clockspring mounting screws. Remove clockspring.
