Starter Assembly
- Disconnect the "M" terminal on the starter solenoid assembly. See Fig 1
.
- Remove the starter solenoid assembly retaining screws and remove the starter solenoid assembly. See Fig 2
.
- Remove the brush holder retaining screws and starter through bolts. See Fig 3
.
- Remove the rear bracket and brush holder assembly. See Fig 4
.
- Remove the armature and yoke assembly. See Fig 5
.
- Remove the lever plate and planet shaft packing. See Fig 6
.
- Remove the planet gears. See Fig 7
.
- Remove the planet shaft assembly and lever. See Fig 8
.
- Using a suitable socket, press the stop ring retainer off of the stop ring. See Fig 9
.
- Using expandable pliers, remove the stop ring. See Fig 10
.
- Remove the stop ring retainer, overrunning clutch and internal gear from the planet shaft. See Fig 11
.
- To reassembly, reverse removal procedure. Use a suitable pulling tool to seat the stop ring retainer over the stop ring. See Fig 12
