Section 6 (Engine Controls - System & Component Testing): Introduction

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2000 Infiniti Q45 and 2000 Infiniti G20. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: For system & component testing on I30, refer to Maxima in Nissan SYSTEM & COMPONENT TESTING article. For system & component testing on QX4, refer to Pathfinder in Nissan SYSTEM & COMPONENT TESTING article.

Before testing separate components or systems, perform procedures in BASIC DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURES article. Since the introduction of OBD-II, almost all computer-controlled and monitored components set a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) if they malfunction. Information for these components is covered in DIAGNOSTIC TESTS in appropriate SELF-DIAGNOSTICS article.

NOTE: Testing individual components does not isolate a short or open circuit. Perform all voltage tests using a Digital Volt-Ohmmeter (DVOM) with a minimum 10-megohm input impedance, unless stated otherwise in test procedure.
