Test Procedure
CAUTION:
Short circuiting positive DVOM lead between a connector terminal and ground could damage vehicle wiring, sensor and/or PCM.
NOTE:
Unless stated otherwise in testing procedures, perform all voltage tests using a Digital Volt-Ohmmeter (DVOM) with a minimum 10-megohm input impedance. Voltage readings may vary slightly due to battery condition or charging rate.
- If necessary, remove PCM to gain access to harness connector. Using DVOM or oscilloscope, obtain reference values by carefully backprobing between suspect system terminal and specified PCM connector ground terminal. On Altima and Sentra, use PCM terminal No. 43 for engine ground. On Frontier, Pathfinder, Quest and QX4, use PCM terminal No. 32 for engine ground. On Maxima, use PCM terminal No. 25 for engine ground.
- Voltage measurements are taken with engine warm unless otherwise specified. If DVOM or oscilloscope displays a measurement that is not within specification, see appropriate SELF-DIAGNOSTICS or SYSTEM & COMPONENT TESTING article. See WIRE COLOR IDENTIFICATION
