Description & Operation
Power windows are operated by main switches of driver's door master control panel, or by individual sub-switch for each passenger window. Main switch controls driver's window, and can control all passenger window motor operation. Individual sub-switches at each passenger door control the window for that door. Main switch incorporates a window lock-out feature which can disable all passenger window operation. Automatic operation function is for driver's or passenger's window only. System lowers or raises window when window switch is fully lifted or depresed and released. If something is caught in window as it moves upward automatically, window reverses direction and lowers about 6 inches. Encoder and limit switch built into window regulator control interruption detection feature.
Power is supplied at all times from fusible link through a circuit breaker to power window relay. See Fig 1 and Fig 2 . Power window motor operation is controlled by applying ground from main switch, through sub-switch (except driver's window) to power window motor. Power window lock switch disconnects all sub-switch ground circuits through the main switch, preventing passenger window motors from operating. Windows may be operated for up to 45 seconds after ignition is switched to OFF position.
