DTC Confirmation Test (Overall Function Check)
NOTE:
Use the following test to check overall function of TP switch circuit. During this test, DTC may not be confirmed.
Malfunction is detected when battery voltage is sent to ECM from closed TP switch when throttle valve is opened. Possible causes are:
- Closed TP switch circuit open or shorted.
- Defective closed TP switch.
- Defective TP sensor.
CAUTION:
DO NOT use ECM ground terminals when measuring voltage.
To check overall function of closed TP switch circuit, start engine and warm to normal operating temperature. Measure voltage between ground and ECM terminal No. 74 (closed TP switch signal) by backprobing. See Figure and Figure . With engine idling, battery voltage should exist. With engine at 2000 RPM, about zero volts should exist.
