DTC Confirmation Test (Overall Function Check)
NOTE:
Use the following test to check overall function of PNP switch circuit. During this test, DTC may not be confirmed.
Malfunction is detected when PNP switch signal does not change between starting and driving. Possible causes are:
- PNP switch circuit open or shorted.
- PNP relay circuit open or shorted.
- Defective PNP switch.
- Defective PNP relay.
To check overall function of PNP switch circuit, turn ignition on. Measure voltage between body ground and ECM terminal No. 101 by backprobing. See Figure and Figure . With transmission in Park or Neutral, voltage should be about zero volts. With transmission in any other position, voltage should be about 5 volts.
