Mode IV

  1. To enter on-board diagnostic Mode IV, turn ignition off. Set headlight switch to first detent position, and rear window defogger switch to OFF position. Ensure driver's window and all doors are closed. Set interior light switch to AUTO position. Set both map light switches to OFF position. Place gear selector lever in Park.
  2. Turn ignition on, then off. Repeatedly press rear window defogger switch to ON position more than 10 times within 10 seconds, ending in the ON position. Self-diagnostic indicator lights (dome and step lights) should illuminate. Turn ignition switch to ON position within 5 seconds after self-diagnostic indicator lights illuminate.
  3. Indicator lights should turn off after one second. This indicates successful entry into self-diagnostic Mode IV. Driver's power window will automatically operate, and self-diagnostic indicator lights will illuminate with power window operating in down and up positions. When power window LOCK is detected, power window motor will stop and self-diagnostic indicator lights will turn off.
  4. After independent power window switches are turned on, driver's power window motor will stop and diagnosis ends. To exit diagnostic mode, turn ignition off or drive vehicle at greater than 4 MPH. Ensure headlight switch is turned off.
