DTC P0460: Fuel Level Sensor Function (Slosh): Procedure

Turn ignition off. Disconnect fuel level and Fuel Tank Temperature (FTT) sensor harness connector located behind access cover, under rear seat. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and fuel level and FTT sensor connector terminal No. 3 (Yellow/Purple wire). If voltage is about 12 volts, go to next step. If voltage is not about 12 volts, repair open or short between fuel level sensor and instrument cluster. Retest system.
Turn ignition off. Check continuity between body ground and fuel level and FTT sensor harness connector terminal No. 2 (Black wire). Also check circuit for short to voltage. Repair circuit as necessary and retest system. If ground circuit is okay, go to next step.
Disconnect ECM harness connector. See Figure. Check continuity of the following:
- Yellow/Purple wire between fuel level and FTT sensor harness connector terminal No. 3 and ECM harness connector terminal No. 83.
- Black wire between fuel level sensor and fuel pump harness connector terminal No. 2 and ECM harness connector terminal No. 59.
See Figure. Also check circuits for short to ground and short to voltage. Repair circuit(s) as necessary and retest system. If circuits are okay, go to next step.
Remove fuel level sensor from fuel tank. Connect positive ohmmeter lead to fuel level and FTT sensor connector terminal No. 3. Connect negative ohmmeter lead to fuel level and FTT sensor connector terminal No. 2. See Figure. Measure resistance with fuel level sensor in specified positions. See FUEL LEVEL SENSOR RESISTANCE table. If resistance is as specified, go to next step. If resistance is not as specified, replace fuel level sensor and retest system.
No problem is indicated at this time. Problem may be intermittent. See INTERMITTENTS in TROUBLE SHOOTING - NO CODES article.
