Test Procedure

- Check for battery voltage at DLC terminal No. 16 (Orange wire). See Figure . If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open or short to ground in Orange wire between DLC terminal No. 16 and driver side Instrument Panel (IP) junction block fuse IPC/HVAC BATT (10-amp) at harness connector C1 terminal A12. See Figure and Figure . After repairs are made, go to step 5 .
- Check for open in Black wire between ground and DLC terminal No. 4. Ground point is located at driver upper corner of dash, under instrument panel. See Figure . If no problem is found, go to next step. If problem is found, repair circuit as necessary and go to step 5 .
- Check for poor or loose connections between scan tool and DLC terminals No. 4 and 16. If no problems are found, go to next step. If problem is found, repair as necessary and go to step 5 .
- Scan tool may be malfunctioning. Check scan tool manual for diagnostic procedures. After repairs are made, go to next step.
