Encoder Circuit Check

  1. CHECK ENCODER POWER SUPPLY 

    Check voltage between auto trunk motor connector B109 terminal 5 and ground.

    1. 5 (L/R) - Ground: Battery voltage 

    OK or NG 

    1. OK: GO TO  3.
    2. NG: GO TO 2.

  2. CHECK HARNESS CONTINUITY 
    1. Turn ignition switch OFF.
    2. Disconnect auto trunk control unit and auto trunk motor connector.
    3. Check continuity between auto trunk control unit connector B110 terminal 14 and auto trunk motor connector B109 terminal 5.
      1. 14 (L/R) - 5 (L/R): Continuity should exist. 
    4. Check continuity between auto trunk control unit connector B110 terminal 14 and ground.
      1. 14 (L/R) - Ground: Continuity should not exist. 

    OK or NG 

    1. OK: Replace auto trunk control unit.
    2. NG: Repair or replace harness.

  3. CHECK ENCODER GROUND 
    1. Turn ignition switch OFF.
    2. Disconnect auto trunk motor connector.
    3. Check continuity between auto trunk motor connector B109 terminal 9 and ground.
      1. 9 (R/W) - Ground: Continuity should exist. 

    OK or NG 

    1. OK: GO TO  5.
    2. NG: GO TO 4.

  4. CHECK ENCODER GROUND CIRCUIT 
    1. Disconnect auto trunk control unit.
    2. Check continuity between auto trunk control unit connector B110 terminal 16 and auto trunk motor connector B109 terminal 9.
      1. 16 (R/W) - 9 (R/W): Continuity should exist. 
    3. Check continuity between auto trunk control unit connector B110 terminal 16 and ground.
      1. 16 (R/W) - Ground: Continuity should not exist. 

    OK or NG 

    1. OK: Replace auto trunk control unit.
    2. NG: Repair or replace harness.

  5. CHECK ENCODER SIGNAL 
    1. Connect auto trunk motor connector.
    2. Turn ignition switch ON.
    3. Check the signal between auto trunk control unit connector B110 terminal 15 and ground with oscilloscope.

    OK or NG 

    1. OK: Encoder function is OK.
    2. NG: GO TO 6.

  6. CHECK ENCODER CIRCUIT 
    1. Turn ignition switch OFF.
    2. Disconnect auto trunk control unit and auto trunk motor connector.
    3. Check continuity between auto trunk control unit connector B110 terminal 15 and auto trunk motor connector B109 terminal 8.
      1. 15 (Y) - 8 (Y): Continuity should exist. 
    4. Check continuity between auto trunk control unit connector B110 terminal 15 and ground.
      1. 15 (Y) - Ground: Continuity should not exist. 

    OK or NG 

    1. OK: Replace auto trunk motor.
    2. NG: Repair or replace harness.
