Diagnosis Procedure
- CHECK GROUND CONNECTION
- Turn ignition switch OFF.
- Check ground connection M95. Refer to Ground Inspection in "CIRCUIT INSPECTION ".
Is the inspection result normal?
YES: GO TO 2.
NO: Repair or replace ground connection.
- CHECK APP SENSOR 2 POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT-I
- Disconnect accelerator pedal position (APP) sensor harness connector.
- Turn ignition switch ON.
- Check the voltage between APP sensor harness connector and ground.VOLTAGE SPECIFICATIONS
APP sensor Ground Voltage Connector Terminal E112 6 Ground Approx. 5V
Is the inspection result normal?
YES: GO TO 7.
NO: GO TO 3.
- CHECK APP SENSOR 2 POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT-II
- Turn ignition switch OFF.
- Disconnect ECM harness connector.
- Check the continuity between APP sensor harness connector and ECM harness connector.CONTINUITY SPECIFICATIONS
APP sensor ECM Continuity Connector Terminal Connector Terminal E112 6 M107 103 Existed
Is the inspection result normal?
YES: GO TO 5.
NO: GO TO 4.
- DETECT MALFUNCTIONING PART
Check the following.
- Harness connectors M6, E106
- Harness for open or short between ECM and accelerator pedal position sensor
Repair open circuit.
- CHECK APP SENSOR 2 POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT-III
Check harness for short to power and short to ground, between the following terminals.

YES: GO TO 6.
NO: Repair short to ground or short to power in harness or connectors.
- CHECK COMPONENTS
Check the following.
- Crankshaft position sensor (POS) (Refer to "COMPONENT INSPECTION ".)
- Camshaft position sensor (PHASE) (bank 2) (Refer to "COMPONENT INSPECTION ".)
- Exhaust valve timing control position sensor (bank 2) (Refer to "COMPONENT INSPECTION ".)
- Battery current sensor (Refer to "COMPONENT INSPECTION ".)
- EVAP control system pressure sensor (Refer to "COMPONENT INSPECTION ".)
- Refrigerant pressure sensor (Refer to "DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE ".)
Is the inspection result normal?
YES: GO TO 13.
NO: Replace malfunctioning component.
- CHECK APP SENSOR 2 GROUND CIRCUIT FOR OPEN AND SHORT
- Turn ignition switch OFF.
- Disconnect ECM harness connector.
- Check the continuity between APP sensor harness connector and ECM harness connector.ECM SENSOR DESCRIPTION
APP sensor ECM Continuity Connector Terminal Connector Terminal E112 2 M107 104 Existed - Also check harness for short to ground and short to power.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES: GO TO 9.
NO: GO TO 8.
- DETECT MALFUNCTIONING PART
Check the following.
- Harness connectors M6, E106
- Harness for open or short between ECM and accelerator pedal position sensor
Repair open circuit or short to ground or short to power in harness or connectors.
- CHECK APP SENSOR 2 INPUT SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR OPEN AND SHORT
- Check the continuity between APP sensor harness connector and ECM harness connector.CONTINUITY SPECIFICATIONS
APP sensor ECM Continuity Connector Terminal Connector Terminal E112 1 M107 98 Existed - Also check harness for short to ground and short to power.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES: GO TO 11.
NO: GO TO 10.
- Check the continuity between APP sensor harness connector and ECM harness connector.
- DETECT MALFUNCTIONING PART
Check the following.
- Harness connectors M6, E106
- Harness for open or short between ECM and accelerator pedal position sensor
Repair open circuit or short to ground or short to power in harness or connectors.
- CHECK APP SENSOR
Refer to "COMPONENT INSPECTION ".
Is the inspection result normal?
YES: GO TO 13.
NO: GO TO 12.
- REPLACE ACCELERATOR PEDAL ASSEMBLY
- Replace accelerator pedal assembly.
- Go to "SPECIAL REPAIR REQUIREMENT ".
INSPECTION END
- CHECK INTERMITTENT INCIDENT
Refer to "INTERMITTENT INCIDENT ".
