Diagnosis Procedure
- CHECK GROUND CONNECTION
- Turn ignition switch OFF.
- Check ground connection M95. Refer to Ground Inspection in "CIRCUIT INSPECTION ".
Is the inspection result normal?
YES: GO TO 2.
NO: Repair or replace ground connection.
- CHECK CONNECTOR
- Disconnect EVAP control system pressure sensor harness connector.
- Check sensor harness connector for water.
Water should not exist.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES: GO TO 3.
NO: Repair or replace harness connector.
- CHECK EVAP CONTROL SYSTEM PRESSURE SENSOR POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT
- Turn ignition switch ON.
- Check the voltage between EVAP control system pressure sensor harness connector and ground.TERMINALS VOLTAGE REFERENCE
EVAP control system pressure sensor Ground Voltage Connector Terminal B252 3 Ground Approx. 5V
Is the inspection result normal?
YES: GO TO 10.
NO: GO TO 4.
- CHECK EVAP CONTROL SYSTEM PRESSURE SENSOR POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT-II
- Turn ignition switch OFF.
- Disconnect ECM harness connector.
- Check the continuity between EVAP control system pressure sensor harness connector and ECM harness connector.TERMINALS CONTINUITY REFERENCE
EVAP control system pressure sensor ECM Continuity Connector Terminal Connector Terminal B252 3 M107 107 Existed
Is the inspection result normal?
YES: GO TO 6.
NO: GO TO 5.
- DETECT MALFUNCTIONING PART
Check the following.
- Harness connectors M7, B1
- Harness connectors B31, B251
- Harness for open between ECM and EVAP control system pressure sensor
Repair open circuit.
- CHECK EVAP CONTROL SYSTEM PRESSURE SENSOR POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT-III
Check harness for short to power and short to ground, between the following terminals.

YES: GO TO 7.
NO: Repair short to ground or short to power in harness or connectors.
- CHECK COMPONENTS
Check the following.
- Crankshaft position sensor (POS) (Refer to "COMPONENT INSPECTION ".)
- Camshaft position sensor (PHASE) (bank 2) (Refer to "COMPONENT INSPECTION ".)
- Exhaust valve timing control position sensor (bank 2) (Refer to "COMPONENT INSPECTION ".)
- Battery current sensor (Refer to "COMPONENT INSPECTION ".)
- Refrigerant pressure sensor (Refer to "COMPONENT INSPECTION ".)
Is the inspection result normal?
YES: GO TO 8.
NO: Replace malfunctioning component.
- CHECK APP SENSOR
Refer to "COMPONENT INSPECTION ".
Is the inspection result normal?
YES: GO TO 20.
NO: GO TO 9.
- REPLACE ACCELERATOR PEDAL ASSEMBLY
- Replace accelerator pedal assembly
- Go to
"SPECIAL REPAIR REQUIREMENT
".
INSPECTION END
- CHECK EVAP CONTROL SYSTEM PRESSURE SENSOR GROUND CIRCUIT FOR OPEN AND SHORT
- Turn ignition switch OFF.
- Disconnect ECM harness connector.
- Check the continuity between EVAP control system pressure sensor harness connector and ECM harness connector.TERMINALS CONTINUITY REFERENCE
EVAP control system pressure sensor ECM Continuity Connector Terminal Connector Terminal B252 1 M107 112 Existed - Also check harness for short to ground and short to power.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES: GO TO 12.
NO: GO TO 11.
- DETECT MALFUNCTIONING PART
Check the following.
- Harness connectors B251, B31
- Harness connectors B1, M7
- Harness for open or short between EVAP control system pressure sensor and ECM
Repair open circuit or short to ground or short to power in harness or connectors.
- CHECK EVAP CONTROL SYSTEM PRESSURE SENSOR INPUT SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR OPEN AND SHORT
- Check the continuity between EVAP control system pressure sensor harness connector and ECM harness connector.TERMINALS CONTINUITY REFERENCE
EVAP control system pressure sensor ECM Continuity Connector Terminal Connector Terminal B252 2 M107 102 Existed - Also check harness for short to ground and short to power.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES: GO TO 14.
NO: GO TO 13.
- Check the continuity between EVAP control system pressure sensor harness connector and ECM harness connector.
- DETECT MALFUNCTIONING PART
Check the following.
- Harness connectors B251, B31
- Harness connectors B1, M7
- Harness for open or short between EVAP control system pressure sensor and ECM
Repair open circuit or short to ground or short to power in harness or connectors.
- CHECK RUBBER TUBE
- Disconnect rubber tube connected to EVAP canister vent control valve.
- Check the rubber tube for clogging.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES: GO TO 15.
NO: Clean the rubber tube using an air blower, repair or replace rubber tube.
- CHECK EVAP CANISTER VENT CONTROL VALVE
Refer to "COMPONENT INSPECTION ".
Is the inspection result normal?
YES: GO TO 16.
NO: Replace EVAP canister vent control valve.
- CHECK EVAP CONTROL SYSTEM PRESSURE SENSOR
Refer to "COMPONENT INSPECTION ".
Is the inspection result normal?
YES: GO TO 17.
NO: Replace EVAP control system pressure sensor.
- CHECK IF EVAP CANISTER SATURATED WITH WATER
- Remove EVAP canister with EVAP canister vent control valve and EVAP control system pressure sensor attached.
- Check if water will drain from the EVAP canister (1).
2 : EVAP canister vent control valve
Does water drain from EVAP canister?
YES: GO TO 18.
NO: GO TO 20.
- CHECK EVAP CANISTER
Weigh the EVAP canister with the EVAP canister vent control valve and EVAP control system pressure sensor attached.
The weight should be less than 2.1 kg (4.6 lb).
Is the inspection result normal?
YES: GO TO 20.
NO: GO TO 19.
- DETECT MALFUNCTIONING PART
Check the following.
- EVAP canister for damage
- EVAP hose between EVAP canister and vehicle frame for clogging or poor connection
Repair hose or replace EVAP canister.
- CHECK INTERMITTENT INCIDENT
Refer to "INTERMITTENT INCIDENT ".
