Inspection Procedure

NOTE: When using the Techstream with the ignition switch OFF to troubleshoot:

Connect the Techstream to the vehicle, and turn a courtesy switch on and off at 1.5 second intervals until communication between the tester and vehicle begins.

  1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER - INTEGRATION CONTROL AND PANEL)

    1. Disconnect the J37 panel connector.
    2. Disconnect the J19 amplifier connector.
    3. Measure the resistance and voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance 

      HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER - INTEGRATION CONTROL AND PANEL) RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      J19-37 (LIN1) - J37-3 (STX) Always Below 1 Ω
      J19-37 (LIN1) or J37-3 (STX) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Standard voltage 

      HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER - INTEGRATION CONTROL AND PANEL) VOLTAGE SPECIFICATION

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      J19-37 (LIN1) or J37-3 (STX) - Body ground Always Below 1 V

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to Next Step 

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (INTEGRATION CONTROL AND PANEL - BATTERY AND BODY GROUND)

    1. Disconnect the J37 panel connector.
    2. Measure the resistance and voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance 

      HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (INTEGRATION CONTROL AND PANEL - BATTERY AND BODY GROUND) RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      J37-1 (GND) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

      Standard voltage 

      HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (INTEGRATION CONTROL AND PANEL - BATTERY AND BODY GROUND) VOLTAGE SPECIFICATION

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      J37-16 (IG+) - Body ground Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V
      Ignition switch OFF Below 1 V

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to Next Step 

  3. CHECK INTEGRATION CONTROL AND PANEL ASSEMBLY (OPERATION) 
    1. Temporarily replace the integration control and panel with a new or normally functioning one.
      1. For Column Shift Type, refer to the following procedures (see REMOVAL ).
      2. For Floor Shift Type, refer to the following procedures (see REMOVAL ).
    2. Check that the malfunction disappears.

      OK: Malfunction disappears. 

    NG: REPLACE AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )

    OK: Go to Next Step 

    END (INTEGRATION CONTROL AND PANEL ASSEMBLY IS DEFECTIVE)
