Inspection Procedure

  1. CHECK NAVIGATION RECEIVER 
    1. Check that waveform of the microphone using an oscilloscope.

      OK: Waveform that matches sound spoken into microphone is output. 

      NAVIGATION RECEIVER TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Item Content
      Tester Connection K7-19 (MIC+) - K7-20 (MIC-)
      Tool Setting 0.2 V/DIV., 0.2 μsec./DIV.
      Condition Ignition switch ACC and steering pad switch's "Voice" switch is pressed

      Result 

      NAVIGATION RECEIVER RESULT CHART

      Result Proceed to
      OK A
      NG (for Column Shift Type) B
      NG (for Floor Shift Type) C

    B: REPLACE NAVIGATION RECEIVER  (see REMOVAL  (For Column Shift Type) )

    C: REPLACE NAVIGATION RECEIVER  (see REMOVAL  (For Floor Shift Type) )

    A: Go to Next Step 

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (NAVIGATION RECEIVER - ROOF CONSOLE BOX) 
    1. Disconnect the K7 receiver connector.
    2. Disconnect the W7 console connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance 

      HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (NAVIGATION RECEIVER - ROOF CONSOLE BOX) TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      K7-17 (MACC) - W7-10 (ACC) Always Below 1 Ω
      K7-19 (MIC+) - W7-9 (MI1+)
      K7-20 (MIC-) - W7-8 (MIC-)
      K7-17 (MACC) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      K7-19 (MIC+) - Body ground
      K7-20 (MIC-) - Body ground

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to Next Step 

  3. CHECK NAVIGATION RECEIVER (MACC VOLTAGE) 
    1. Reconnect the K7 receiver connector.
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard voltage 

      NAVIGATION RECEIVER (MACC VOLTAGE) TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      K7-17 (MACC) - Body ground Ignition switch ACC 4 to 6V

      Result 

      NAVIGATION RECEIVER (MACC VOLTAGE) RESULT CHART

      Result Proceed to
      OK A
      NG (for Column Shift Type) B
      NG (for Floor Shift Type) C

    B: REPLACE NAVIGATION RECEIVER  (see REMOVAL  (For Column Shift Type) )

    C: REPLACE NAVIGATION RECEIVER  (see REMOVAL  (For Floor Shift Type) )

    A: Go to Next Step 

  4. REPLACE MICROPHONE AMPLIFIER WITH ANOTHER AND CHECK 
    1. Replace the microphone amplifier with a normal one (see REMOVAL ).
    2. Check if the same problem occurs again.

      OK: Malfunction disappears 

    NG: REPLACE MICROPHONE AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )

    OK: END (MICROPHONE AMPLIFIER IS FAULTY)
