Inspection Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2008 Toyota Tundra. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

HINT:

This circuit uses the LIN communication line. Before performing the inspection, check that the LIN communication system is functioning normally (see HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING ).

  1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST BY TECHSTREAM (DEFOGGER RELAY)
    1. Select the Active Test using the Techstream to generate a control command, and then check that the rear window defogger operates.

OK: Rear window defogger operates normally.

    NG:  Go to step  3

    OK: Go to Next Step

  2. CHECK INTEGRATION CONTROL AND PANEL (OPERATION)
    1. Temporarily replace the integration control and panel with a new or normally functioning one.
      1. For Column Shift Type, refer to the following procedures (see REMOVAL ).
      2. For Floor Shift Type, refer to the following procedures (see REMOVAL ).
    2. Check that the malfunction disappears.

      OK: Malfunction disappears.

NG: REPLACE AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER  (See REMOVAL )

OK: END (INTEGRATION CONTROL AND PANEL IS DEFECTIVE)

  3. INSPECT FUSE (DEFOG)
    1. Remove the DEFOG H-fuse from the engine room relay block.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

FUSE (DEFOG) TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      DEFOG H-fuse Always Below 1 Ω

    NG: REPLACE FUSE

    OK: Go to Next Step

  4. INSPECT DEFOGGER RELAY (DEFOG)
    1. Remove the defogger relay from the engine room relay block.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance
