Diagnosis Procedure
- CHECK GROUND CONNECTION
- Turn ignition switch OFF.
- Check ground connections M16, M70. Refer to
"GROUND INSPECTION ".
Is the inspection result normal?
YES: GO TO 2.
NO: Repair or replace ground connections.
- CHECK ECM GROUND CIRCUIT FOR OPEN AND SHORT
- Disconnect ECM harness connector.
- Check the continuity between ECM harness connector and ground.CONNECTOR TERMINAL CONTINUITY CHART
ECM Ground Continuity Connector Terminal F105 8 Ground Existed M9 123 124 127 128 - Also check harness for short to power.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES: GO TO 4.
NO: GO TO 3.
- DETECT MALFUNCTIONING PART
Check the following.
- Harness connectors F102, M72
- Harness for open or short between ECM and ground
Repair open circuit or short to power in harness or connectors.
- CHECK ECM POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT-I
- Reconnect ECM harness connector.
- Turn ignition switch ON.
- Check the voltage between ECM harness connector and ground.CONNECTOR TERMINAL VOLTAGE CHART
ECM Voltage + - Connector Terminal Connector Terminal F106 53 M9 128 Battery voltage Is the inspection result normal?
YES: GO TO 6.
NO: GO TO 5.
- DETECT MALFUNCTIONING PART
Check the following.
- Harness connectors M72, F102
- Fuse block (J/B) connector M4
- 15 A fuse (No. 1)
- Harness for open or short between ECM and fuse
Repair open circuit, short to ground or short to power in harness or connectors.
- CHECK ECM POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT-II
- Turn ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds.
- Check the voltage between ECM harness connector terminals as per the following.CONNECTOR TERMINAL VOLTAGE CHART
ECM Voltage Connector + - Terminal Terminal M9 125 128 After turning ignition switch OFF, battery voltage will exist for a few seconds, then drop to approximately 0 V. Is the inspection result normal?
YES: GO TO 7.
NO: GO TO 9.
- CHECK ECM POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT-III
- CHECK INTERMITTENT INCIDENT
Refer to "DESCRIPTION ".
INSPECTION END
- CHECK ECM POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT-IV
- Turn ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds.
- Check the voltage between ECM harness connector terminals as per the following.CONNECTOR TERMINAL VOLTAGE CHART
ECM Voltage + - Connector Terminal Connector Terminal F105 24 M9 128 Battery voltage Is the inspection result normal?
YES: GO TO 13.
NO: GO TO 10.
- CHECK ECM POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT-V
- Disconnect ECM harness connector.
- Disconnect IPDM E/R harness connector.
- Check the continuity between ECM harness connector and IPDM E/R harness connector.CONNECTOR TERMINAL CONTINUITY CHART
ECM IPDM E/R Continuity Connector Terminal Connector Terminal F105 24 E9 46 Existed - Also check harness for short to ground and short to power.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES: GO TO 12.
NO: GO TO 11.
- DETECT MALFUNCTIONING PART
Check the following.
- Harness connectors E11, F2
- Harness for open or short between ECM and IPDM E/R
Repair open circuit, short to ground or short to power in harness or connectors.
- CHECK 20 A FUSE
- Disconnect 20 A fuse (No. 77) from IPDM E/R.
- Check 20 A fuse.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES: GO TO 15.
NO: Replace 20 A fuse.
- CHECK ECM POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT-V
- Disconnect ECM harness connector.
- Disconnect IPDM E/R harness connector.
- Check the continuity between ECM harness connector and IPDM E/R harness connector.CONNECTOR TERMINAL CONTINUITY CHART
ECM IPDM E/R Continuity Connector Terminal Connector Terminal M9 125 E7 18 Existed - Also check harness for short to ground and short to power.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES: GO TO 15.
NO: GO TO 14.
- DETECT MALFUNCTIONING PART
Check the following.
- Harness connectors E108, M15
- Harness for open or short between ECM and IPDM E/R
Repair open circuit, short to ground or short to power in harness or connectors.
- CHECK INTERMITTENT INCIDENT
Refer to "DESCRIPTION ".
Is the inspection result normal?
YES: Replace IPDM E/R.
NO: Repair open circuit, short to ground or short to power in harness or connectors.
