Component Inspection

Smart Key Unit (SMK IMMO Unit) Inspection

  1. Neutralize the Smart key unit (SMK IMMO unit) using GDS.
  2. Perform the key teaching procedure for the ECM after neutralizing the ECM.
    CAUTION: Pin code must be prepared to neutralize the Smart Key unit (SMK IMMO unit) and to perform key teaching procedure.
  3. Is the neutralization of the Smart Key unit (SMK IMMO unit) and the ECM and key teaching properly completed?

    YES 

    • Fault can be intermittent, caused by poor contact of connectors between the Smart key unit and the ECM. Or, ECM memory was not cleared after repair. Thoroughly check connectors for looseness, poor contact, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage. Repair or replace relevant component(s) as necessary and then go to "VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR ".

    NO 

    • Replace the Smart Key unit with an usable test sample and check for proper operation. If the problem is corrected, replace the unit. Then, go to "VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR ".
NOTE:
  • PIN code will be programmed in the Smart Key unit (SMK IMMO unit), ECM and FOB.
    1. If the Smart key unit is registered, the key teaching process cannot be proceeded.
    2. PIN number can be registered by neutralizing the Smart Key unit (SMK IMMO unit)
    3. The engine ECM can be neutralized using the GDS. (Enter the PIN code)
    4. If a virgin engine ECM is installed on the vehicle, the VIN will be automatically encrypted by the Smart Key unit (SMK IMMO unit)
    5. Registering PIN code is only possible when the component is virgin or at the neutralized state.
  • All Learning procedure can be done with a GDS when the ignition switch is off.
    • Smart Key ECM Learning
      1. Before the learning procedure for FOB Key begins, the Smart Key unit should have a registered PIN code first.
      2. In case of replacing the Smart Key ECM, all of the keys should be newly registered again.
      3. When a wrong PIN is entered to the Smart Key unit 3 times, neutralization and learning procedure will not be allowed for 1 hour.
      4. If the battery is discharged during neutralization or learning, timer will start again from beginning. Therefore, one must wait for 1 hour.
