Fuel Level Warning Switch

  1. Remove fuel gauge sending unit. Connect test light between battery positive and terminal No. 1 of fuel gauge sending unit. See Fig 1. Connect jumper wire between battery negative and terminal No. 3 of fuel gauge sending unit. If test light illuminates after a few moments, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, replace fuel gauge sending unit.
  2. Submerge entire fuel gauge sending unit (or fuel level sensor portion) in a container of fuel. Test light should turn off. If operation is not as specified, replace fuel gauge sending unit.
