Inspection Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2005 Lexus GS 430 and 2005 Lexus GS 300. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Check the mark display. (At a place with a fine view, is GPS mark displayed or not?) 
    1. No: Go to step   7 . 
    2. Yes: Go to next step. 
  2. Does the trouble occur in the specific area or not? 
    1. YES: Normal (If the vehicle is positioned in the place where it is difficult to be identified, the current vehicle position may be incorrectly displayed.) 
    2. NO: Go to next step. 
  3. Check the setting (Color of the automatic calibration button on the calibration screen). 
    1. Green: Normal. (Drive the vehicle (10 km or more) until calibration is completed. 
    2. Blue: Go to next step. 
  4. Service check mode. (Is "58-43" displayed in the unit check mode of the navigation ECU?) 
    1. YES: Troubleshoot for each diagnosis. 
    2. NO: Go to next step. 
  5. Navigation check mode (vehicle signal check mode: SPD). 
    1. NG: Replace or repair speed sensor wire harness. 
    2. OK: Go to next step. 
  6. Is there anything such as a film stuck to the window or any metal object on the instrument panel? 
    1. YES: Reception may be affected by a screen such as a film. 
    2. NO: Go to next step. 
  7. Recurrence Test (Confirm the phenomenon) (Correct the current position and drive the vehicle for a while with the GPS mark displayed). 
    1. OK: Normal. 
    2. OK: Replace the navigation ECU. 
  8. Check if the harness is caught or sharply bent or not. 
    1. NG: Navigation antenna is surely connected. 
    2. OK: Go to next step. 
  9. Check optional components. (Does it become if the optionals such as the theft deterrent system is removed?) 
    1. YES: Remove or change the position of the components. 

      HINT:

      Some optionals receive radio signals, and if this happens, GPS reception may be affected.

    2. NO: Go to next step. 
  10. Is there anything such as a film stuck to the window? 
    1. YES: Reception may be affected by a screen such as a film. 
    2. NO: Go to next step. 
  11. Service check mode. (Is "80-40, 41" is displayed in the unit check mode of the navigation ECU?) 
    1. YES: Troubleshoot for each diagnosis. 
    2. OK: Replace the navigation antenna. 

      HINT:

      If the trouble still occurs, replace the navigation ECU.
