Section 331 (Stop Light System): Inspection

  1. INSPECT STOP LIGHT SWITCH CONTINUITY 
    STOP LIGHT SWITCH CONTINUITY

    Switch position Tester connection Specified condition.
    Switch pin free
    (Pedal depressed)
    - No continuity
    Switch pin pushed in
    (Pedal released)
    1 - 2 Continuity
    Switch pin free
    (Pedal depressed)
    - No continuity
    Switch pin pushed in
    (Pedal released)
    3 - 4 Continuity

    If continuity is not as specified, replace the switch.

  2. INSPECT STOP LIGHT SWITCH CIRCUIT 

    (See  STOP LIGHT SWITCH CIRCUIT  ) 

    Disconnect the connector from the switch and inspect the connector on the wire harness side, as shown.

    STOP LIGHT SWITCH CONNECTOR SPECIFIED CONDITION

    Tester connection Condition Specified condition
    2 - Ground Constant Battery positive voltage

    If circuit is not as specified, inspect the power source or wire harness.

  3. INSPECT HI-MOUNTED STOP LIGHT CONTINUITY 

    Using an ohmmeter, check that continuity exists between terminals.

    If continuity is not as specified, replace the light assembly or bulb.

  4. INSPECT HI-MOUNTED STOP LIGHT CIRCUIT 

    Disconnect the connector from the light and inspect the connector on the wire harness side, as shown in Fig 4.

    HI-MOUNTED STOP LIGHT CONNECTOR SPECIFIED CONDITION

    Tester connection Condition Specified condition
    2 - Ground Constant Continuity

    If circuit is not as specified, inspect the power source or wire harness.

  5. INSPECT LIGHT FAILURE SENSOR 

    (See  LAMP FAILURE SENSOR CIRCUIT  and  INSPECTION  )
