Without Scan Tool

  1. Turn ignition switch off. Set each test item to condition 1 as shown in illustration. See Figure.
  2. Using special tool (09843-18040), jumper between terminals Ts and CG of (DLC3). See Figure.
  3. Start engine. At this time the absorber control indicator light illuminates for 2 seconds. Then it flashes at .25 second intervals. If the absorber control indicator does not flash, check Ts terminal circuit. See TEST E: Ts TERMINAL CIRCUIT .
  4. Change each test item to condition 2. See Figure. Check that absorber control indicator light illuminates for one second.
  5. Using special tool (09843-18040), jumper between terminals Tc and CG of (DLC3). See Figure. Keep the connection between Ts and CG.
  6. Read DTC output by the flashing pattern on absorber control indicator light. See RETRIEVING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If DTC is not signaled, check the Tc terminal circuit. See TEST C: Tc TERMINAL CIRCUIT .
  7. Turn ignition switch off. Disconnect special tools.
