Test E: Auto Up & Auto Down Does Not Operate (Prepare A Normal Master Switch)

  1. Remove the master switch or regulator switch at the seat where AUTO UP and AUTO DOWN is unavailable with connectors connected. See POWER WINDOW SWITCH  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  2. Check if the voltage and continuity of the connectors connected to the master switch or regulator switch are normal. See CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . See INSPECTING MASTER SWITCH OR REGULATOR SWITCH VOLTAGE & CONTINUITY  table. If voltage and continuity are OK, replace the master or regulator switch. See POWER WINDOW SWITCH  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If the voltage and continuity is not good, go to the next step.
INSPECTING MASTER SWITCH OR REGULATOR SWITCH VOLTAGE & CONTINUITY

Terminal No. (1) Inspection Condition Standard
13 (3) Fully Open By Manual Operation To Fully Close To Switch OFF Less Than 1 Volt To 10-14 Volts To 0 Volt
12 (4) During Power Window Operation Approximately 5.5 Volts
    10 (2) Constant Continuity
    (1) The number in parentheses ( ), refers to the regulator switch. The number not in parentheses ( ), refers to the master switch.
  3. Disconnect the connectors of the master switch or regulator switch and power window motor.
  4. Check that continuity exists between connectors of following vehicle side connectors:

Master Switch Side (Regulator Switch Side ) - Motor Side

    • Terminal No. 13 (3) - Terminal No. 3
    • Terminal No. 12 (4) - Terminal No. 4
    • Terminal No. 10 (2) - Terminal No. 2
If continuity exists, go to the next step. If continuity does not exist, the wiring harness is defective (open circuit in each terminal).
  5. NOTE: The number in parentheses ( ), refers to the regulator switch. The number not in parentheses ( ), refers to the master switch.
  6. Check that continuity exists between terminals No. 13 (3), 12 (4) and 10 (2) on the switch side or 3, 4, 2 and body ground. If there is continuity, go to the next step. If there is not continuity, the wiring harness is defective (short circuit).
  7. Connect the connector of the power window motor. Connect the normal master switch or regulator switch and check if AUTO UP and DOWN operates. If operation is OK, replace the master switch or regulator switch. See POWER WINDOW SWITCH  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If operation is not good, replace the power window motor. See POWER WINDOW MOTOR (FRONT)  and/or POWER WINDOW MOTOR (REAR)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
