Lighting System: Pre-Check

  1. USING HAND-HELD TESTER 
    1. Hook up the hand-held tester to the DLC3.
    2. Monitor the ECU data by following the prompts on the tester screen.

    HINT:

    Hand-held tester has "Snapshot" function which records the monitored data.

    Please refer to the hand-held tester operator's manual for further details.

  2. DTC CLEAR 
    1. DTC and freeze frame data can be erased by operating the hand-held tester.
  3. DATA LIST 

    HINT:

    By the DATA LIST displayed by the hand-held tester, you can read the value of the switch, sensor, actuator and so on without removing any part. Reading the DATA LIST as the first step in troubleshooting is one of the methods to shorten the labor time.

    1. Connect the hand-held tester to DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch ON.
    3. According to the display on the tester, read the "DATA LIST".

  4. ACTIVE TEST 

    HINT:

    Performing the ACTIVE TEST using the hand-held tester allows the relay, VSV, actuator and so on to operate without removing any part. Performing the ACTIVE TEST as the first step of troubleshooting is one of the methods to shorten the labor time. The DATA LIST can be displayed during the ACTIVE TEST.

    1. Connect the hand-held tester to DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch ON.
    3. According to the display on the tester, perform the "ACTIVE TEST".

  5. ILLUMINATED ENTRY SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK 
    1. The illuminated entry system is explained below:
      1. Turn the ignition switch OFF, close all the doors, and set them in the lock condition.
      2. Unlock any door and open any other doors and check that the room light comes on. Close the door and check that the room light goes off in about 15 seconds.
      3. Turn the ignition switch ON and open and close any other of the doors. Check that the room light immediately goes off.
      4. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
      5. Open and close any of the door to turn the room light on. Before the room light goes off in about 15 seconds, turn the ignition switch ON. Check that the room light goes off immediately.
      6. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
      7. Open and close any of the doors to turn the room light come on. Before the light goes off in about 15 seconds, lock all the door. Check that the light goes off immediately.
  6. LAMP AUTO CUT OPERATION CHECK 
    1. Turn the ignition switch ON, and switch headlight into TAIL or HEAD position.
    2. Turn the ignition switch OFF and open the driver door, and check that the headlight goes off in about 30 seconds.
    3. Turn the ignition switch ON, and switch headlight into TAIL or HEAD position.
    4. Turn the ignition switch OFF and open the driver door. Before the headlight goes off in about 30 seconds, lock all the door. Check that the headlight goes off immediately.
  7. BATTERY SAVER OPERATION CHECK 
    1. Remove the ignition key and close all the doors.
    2. Open any door to light the room light, and leave it open. Check that the light goes off in about 20 minutes.
    3. After the room light goes off, close the driver door.
    4. Open any door to turn the room light on, and then open another door. Check that the room light goes off within 20 minutes, after opening the doors.
    5. Close all the doors. With the ignition key inserted, open any door to light the room light and then, remove the ignition key. Check that the room light goes off within 20 minutes.
