Inspection Procedure

  1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 
    1. Disconnect the connectors shown in Fig 1 from the stereo component amplifier assy and speakers.
    2. Measure the resistance between the front No. 2 speaker assy and the stereo component amplifier assy to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard: Below 1 Ω 

    3. Measure the resistance between the rear speaker assy and the stereo component amplifier assy to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard: Below 1 Ω

    4. Measure the resistance between the stereo component speaker assy and the stereo component amplifier assy to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard: Below 1 Ω 

    5. Measure the resistance between the woofer box speaker assy No. 2 and the stereo component amplifier assy to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard: Below 1 Ω

    6. Measure the resistance between the front No. 1 speaker assy and the front No. 2 speaker assy to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard: Below 1 Ω 

    7. Measure the resistance between the woofer box speaker assy No. 1 and the stereo component amplifier assy to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard: Below 1 Ω 

    8. Measure the resistance between each speaker and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard: 10 kΩ or higher

    1. NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 
    2. OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 
  2. INSPECT WOOFER BOX SPEAKER ASSY NO. 2 
    1. Resistance check.
      1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in WOOFER BOX SPEAKER ASSY NO. 2 RESISTANCE .
    NOTE: The speaker should not be removed for checking.

    Standard: 

    WOOFER BOX SPEAKER ASSY NO. 2 RESISTANCE

    Tester connection Condition Specified condition
    1 - 3 Always Approximately 1.21 Ω
    2 - 4 Always Approximately 1.21 Ω

    1. NG: REPLACE WOOFER BOX SPEAKER ASSY NO. 2 (SEE  W/BOX SPEAKER ASSY NO. 2  ) 
    2. OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 
  3. INSPECT FRONT NO. 1 SPEAKER ASSY 
    1. Resistance check.
      1. Measure the resistance between the terminals of the speaker.

      Standard: 4 to 6 Ω 

    1. NG: REPLACE  FRONT NO. 1 SPEAKER ASSY 
    2. OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 
  4. INSPECT FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSY 
    1. Check that the malfunction disappears when another speaker in good condition is installed.

      OK: Malfunction disappears. 

    HINT:

    • Connect all the connectors to the speakers.
    • When there is a possibility that either right or left front speaker is defective, inspect by interchanging the right one with the left one.
    1. OK: REPLACE  FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSY 
    2. NG: GO TO NEXT STEP 
  5. INSPECT REAR SPEAKER ASSY 
    1. Resistance check.
      1. Measure the resistance between the terminals of the speaker.

    Standard: Approximately 2.4 Ω 

    1. NG: REPLACE  REAR SPEAKER ASSY 
    2. OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 
  6. INSPECT WOOFER BOX SPEAKER ASSY NO. 1 
    1. Check that the malfunction disappears when another speaker in good condition is installed.

      OK: Malfunction disappears. 

    HINT:

    • Connect all the connectors to the speakers.
    • When there is a possibility that either right or left rear speaker is defective, inspect by interchanging the right one with the left one.
    1. OK: REPLACE WOOFER BOX SPEAKER ASSY NO. 1 (SEE  W/BOX SPEAKER ASSY NO. 1  ) 
    2. NG: GO TO NEXT STEP 
  7. INSPECT STEREO COMPONENT SPEAKER ASSY 
    1. Check that the malfunction disappears when another speaker in good condition is installed.

      OK: Malfunction disappears. 

    HINT:

    • Connect all the connectors to the speakers.
    • When there is a possibility that either right or left front speaker is defective, inspect by interchanging the right one with the left one.
    1. OK: REPLACE  STEREO COMPONENT SPEAKER ASSY 
    2. NG: PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE
