Diagnosis & Repair
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Lexus GS 300. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- If any DTCs besides DTC P0134 and P0154 are output, diagnose other DTCs first. If no other DTCs are output, go to next step.
- Check connection of PCV piping. Repair as necessary. If okay, go to next step.
- Connect the OBD-II scan tool or hand-held tester to the DLC3. Warm up the engine to normal operating temperature above 169°F (75°C). Read voltage output of the heated oxygen sensors when the engine is suddenly raced. Perform quick racing to 4000 RPM 3 times using accelerator pedal. If heated oxygen sensor outputs a rich signal (.45 volts or more) at least once, go to step 10. If not, go to next step.
- Check for open and short in harness and connector between ECM and heated oxygen sensors (bank 1, 2 sensor 1). See appropriate WIRING DIAGRAM under ENGINE PERFORMANCE in SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS. Repair as necessary. If okay, go to next step.
- Check whether misfire has occurred by monitoring DTC and data list. Repair as necessary. If okay, go to next step.
- Check air induction system. Repair as necessary. If okay, go to next step.
- Check fuel pressure. See FUEL PUMP PRESSURE (ALL MODELS) under FUEL DELIVERY in SYSTEM & COMPONENT TESTING - GS300, GS430, IS300 & LS430 article. Check and repair fuel pump, pressure regulator, fuel pipe line and filter as necessary. If okay, go to next step.
- Check injector injection. See FUEL CONTROL in SYSTEM & COMPONENT TESTING - GS300, GS430, IS300 & LS430 article. Replace injector as necessary. If okay, go to next step.
- Check gas leakage on exhaust system. Repair as necessary. If okay, replace heated oxygen sensor (bank 1, 2 sensor 1).
- Perform test drive confirmation then go to next step. See TEST DRIVE CONFIRMATION .
- Check if DTC P0134 and P0154 are output again. If yes, check and replace ECM. If not, go to next step.
- Check if vehicle may have run out of fuel in the past. If yes, DTC is caused by vehicle running out of fuel. If not, check for intermittent problems.
