Lower Control Arm: Removal

  1. Remove front wheel. Remove engine under cover and engine under cover No. 2. See Fig 1.
  2. Remove right and left rear engine under covers.
  3. Remove nut and disconnect height control sensor link from lower arm. See Fig 2.
  4. Remove bolts and suspension member brace. See Fig 3.
  5. Remove bolts and No. 2 Lower control arm from No. 1 lower control arm. See Fig 4.
  6. Remove bolts and brake caliper from steering knuckle. Support brake caliper securely.
  7. Remove disc.
  8. Remove clip and nut. Using Special Tool (09610-20012), disconnect tie rod end. See Figure.
  9. Remove nuts and stabilizer bar link. If ball joint turns with nut, use a hexagon wrench to hold stud. See Fig 5.
  10. Remove bolt and nut. Disconnect shock absorber from shock absorber bracket. See Fig 6.
  11. Remove cotter pin and nut. Using Special Tool (09628-62011), disconnect lower ball from No. 1 lower control arm . See Figure.
  12. Remove bolts and housing bracket. disconnect steering gear assembly. Be careful not to damage return tube and pressure feed tube. See Fig 7. support steering gear assembly securely.
  13. Place matchmarks on cam plate and suspension member. See Fig 8. Remove bolt and shock absorber lower bracket from No. 1 lower control arm.
