Diagnostic Aids

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Lexus IS 300. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. After confirming DTC P0134 or P0154, use OBD II scan tool or hand-held tester to confirm voltage output of heated oxygen sensor (bank 1, 2 sensor 1) from CURRENT DATA. If voltage output of heated oxygen sensor is less than 0.1 volt, heated oxygen sensor circuit may be open or shorted.
  2. Read freeze frame data using hand-held tester or OBD II scan tool. Freeze frame data records engine conditions when a malfunction is detected. When troubleshooting, it is useful to determine whether vehicle was running or stopped, engine was warmed up or not, air-fuel ratio was lean or rich, etc. at time of malfunction.
  3. If vehicle runs out of fuel, air-fuel ratio is LEAN and DTC P0134 or P0154 will be recorded. MIL then illuminates.
