Inspection Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2005 Lexus RX 330. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. CHECK FUSE (ECU-B, P/SEAT, ECU-IG NO. 1, AM1) 
    1. Remove the ECU-B fuse from the FL block.
    2. Remove the P/SEAT M-fuse, ECU-IG NO. 1 and AM1 fuses from the instrument panel J/B.
    3. Check the resistance.

      Standard: Below 1 Ω 

    1. NG: REPLACE FUSE 
    2. OK: GO TO NEXT STEP. 
  2. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (POSITION CONTROL ECU & SWITCH ASSY - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the P32 and P33 ECU connectors.
    2. Check the voltage of each terminal of the wire harness side connectors.

      Standard: 

      POSITION CONTROL ECU & SWITCH ASSY - BODY GROUND (VOLTAGE)

      Tester Connection Switch Position Specified Condition
      P32-8 - Body ground Constant 11 to 14 V
      P33-5 - Body ground Constant 11 to 14 V
      P32-4 - Body ground Ignition switch OFF -> ON 0 V -> 11 to 14 V
    3. Check the resistance between the P33 ECU wire harness side connector and body ground.

      Standard: 

      POSITION CONTROL ECU & SWITCH ASSY - BODY GROUND (RESISTANCE)

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      P33-1 - Body ground Below 1 Ω
    1. NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 
    2. OK: REPLACE POSITION CONTROL ECU & SWITCH ASSY
