Inspection Procedure
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2007 Lexus RX 350. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
When the distance control ECU is replaced with a new one, initialization must be performed (See ADJUSTMENT
).
- INSPECT DISTANCE CONTROL ECU
- Turn the ignition switch on.
- Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard voltage
TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION REFERENCE TABLETester Connection Condition Specified Condition D2-16 (MODE) - D2-12 (GND) Distance control switch ON (pushed) 0 to 2V Distance control switch OFF (not pushed) 10 to 14 V
OK: PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE
NG: Go to Next Step
- INSPECT DISTANCE CONTROL SWITCH CIRCUIT
- Disconnect the D2 connector.
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance
TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION REFERENCE TABLETester connection Condition Specified condition D2-16 (MODE) - Body ground Distance control switch ON (pushed) Below 1 Ω Distance control switch OFF (not pushed) 10 kΩ or higher
OK: CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (DISTANCE CONTROL ECU - SPIRAL CABLE)
NG: Go to Next Step
- INSPECT STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSEMBLY
- Remove the steering pad (See REMOVAL ).
- Disconnect the K1 connector from the spiral cable.
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

NG: REPLACE STEERING PAD SWITCH
OK: REPLACE STEERING PAD SWITCH LH
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (DISTANCE CONTROL ECU - SPIRAL CABLE) NOTE: The spiral cable is an important part of the SRS airbag system. Incorrect removal or installation of the spiral cable may prevent the airbag from deploying. Be sure to read the page shown in the brackets.
HINT:
- See REMOVAL
- See INSTALLATION
- Remove the spiral cable.
