Inspection Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Lexus LS 430. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

HINT:

Before the procedure, check that the multiplex communication system DTCs are not output (see DTC CHECK/CLEAR ).

  1. READ VALUE OF HAND-HELD TESTER 
    1. Connect the hand-held tester to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position and turn the hand-held tester main switch on.
    3. Select the items below in the DATA LIST, and read the displays on the hand- held tester.

    COMBINATION SWITCH (TURN SIGNAL SWITCH ASSY):

    OK: Condition sign can be displayed. 

    1. NG: Go to step 2 
    2. OK: PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE (SEE  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE  ) 
  2. INSPECT TURN SIGNAL SWITCH ASSY (COMBINATION SWITCH)

    1. Disconnect the connector from the combination switch.
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value (s) in the figure Fig 3 below.

    Standard:

    1. NG: Go to step 3 
    2. OK: REPLACE TURN SIGNAL SWITCH ASSY (COMBINATION SWITCH) 
  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR

    1. Measure the voltage according to the value (s) in the figure Fig 5 below.

    Standard:

    1. NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (IGNITION SWITCH CIRCUIT OR BATTERY CIRCUIT) 
    2. OK: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (GROUND CIRCUIT)
