DTC Check/Clear

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Lexus LS 430. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. DTC CHECK 
    1. Present DTC check
      1. First, make sure that the headlamps and the ignition switch are OFF. Then turn the ignition switch ON and OFF repeatedly 3 times within 15 seconds while pressing either the PLAY or VOLUME + button. This allows the system to enter current diagnosis mode. Refer to the DTC chart for details (See PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE ).
    2. Past DTC check
      1. First, cover the automatic light control sensor with an opaque cloth. Then, turn the headlamp switch ON and OFF repeatedly 3 times within 15 seconds while pressing either PLAY or VOLUME + button and check that the LED on the telephone switch (Mayday switch) dims in response to the headlamps' lighting. This allows the system to enter past diagnosis mode.
  2. LED LIGHTING PATTERN 
    1. When the system is in the diagnosis mode, the LEDs on the telephone switch assy illuminates in the applicable pattern. The illuminating pattern shown in the illustration below is example of DTC 3-2 and 3-4.

  3. CLEAR DTC 
    1. DTC is erased when the system has returned to normal.
  4. ERASE PREVIOUSLY RECORDED DTC 
    1. First cover the automatic light control sensor with an opaque cloth. Then, turn the headlamp switch ON and OFF repeatedly 5 times within 15 seconds while pressing either VOLUME-button and check that the LED on the telephone switch assy dims in response to the lighting of the headlamps. This allows the system to erase the DTCs previously recorded.

    HINT:

    *: When running the vehicle, be sure to be in the cover area of the system.

    If in a flat area, the vehicle may only need to be driven a few miles before a connection can be made. If in a mountainous area, the vehicle may have to be driven dozens of miles before connection can be made.
