Inspection Procedure

  1. READ VALUE OF INTELLIGENT TESTER OR TECHSTREAM (REAR JUNCTION BLOCK ECU) 
    1. Using the intelligent tester or Techstream, read the Data List.
      1. Intelligent tester

        BODY NO.4 

        INTELLIGENT TESTER - BODY NO. 4

        Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
        TAIL LGT Tr. States of taillight/OK or Break OK: Taillight circuit is normal
        Break: Taillight circuit is malfunctioning
        Confirm that headlight dimmer switch is ON (TAIL or HEAD)
        STOP LGT Tr. States of stop light/OK or Break OK: Stop light circuit is normal
        Break: Stop light circuit is malfunctioning
        Confirm that brake pedal is pressed
        H-M STP LGT Tr. States of high mount stop light/ OK or Break OK: High mount stop light circuit is normal
        Break: High mount stop light circuit is malfunctioning
        Confirm that brake pedal is pressed
      2. Techstream

        Body No.4 

        TECHSTREAM - BODY NO. 4

        Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
        Tail Light Tr States of taillight/OK or Break OK: Taillight circuit is normal
        Break: Taillight circuit is malfunctioning
        Confirm that headlight dimmer switch is ON (TAIL or HEAD)
        Stop Light Tr States of stop light/OK or Break OK: Stop light circuit is normal
        Break: Stop light circuit is malfunctioning
        Confirm that brake pedal is pressed
        High Mount Stop Light Tr States of high mount stop light/ OK or Break OK: High mount stop light circuit is normal
        Break: High mount stop light circuit is malfunctioning
        Confirm that brake pedal is pressed

        Result: 

        RESULT CHART

        Result Proceed to
        Item (TAIL LGT Tr.) displays "Break" on tester A
        Item (STOP LGT Tr.) displays "Break" is on tester B
        Item (H-M STP LGT Tr.) displays "Break" on tester C
        All items display "OK" on tester D

    B: Go to step   4 

    C: Go to step   6 

    D: Go to step   8 

    A: GO TO NEXT STEP 

  2. READ VALUE OF INTELLIGENT TESTER OR TECHSTREAM (TAILLIGHT AND LICENSE PLATE LIGHT) 
    1. Disconnect the connectors in the following order: Rear combination light (LH, RH), rear light (LH, RH), license plate light.
    2. Using the intelligent tester or Techstream, read the Data List.
      1. Intelligent tester

        BODY NO.4 

        INTELLIGENT TESTER - BODY NO. 4

        TAIL LGT Tr. States of taillight/OK or Break OK: Taillight circuit is normal
        Break: Taillight circuit is malfunctioning
        Confirm that headlight dimmer switch is ON (TAIL or HEAD)
      2. Techstream

        Body No.4 

        TECHSTREAM - BODY NO. 4

    B: REPLACE REAR COMBINATION LIGHT (See  REMOVAL   ) 

    C: REPLACE REAR LIGHT (See  REMOVAL   ) 

    D: REPLACE LICENSE PLATE LIGHT (See  REMOVAL   ) 

    A: GO TO NEXT STEP 

  3. READ VALUE OF INTELLIGENT TESTER OR TECHSTREAM (REAR JUNCTION BLOCK ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the connectors in the following order: rear junction block ECU connector S63, S64.
    2. Using the intelligent tester or Techstream, read the Data List.
      1. Intelligent tester

        BODY NO.4 

        INTELLIGENT TESTER - BODY NO. 4

        Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
        TAIL LGT Tr. States of taillight/OK or Break OK: Taillight circuit is normal
        Break: Taillight circuit is malfunctioning

    B: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    A: REPLACE LUGGAGE ROOM JUNCTION BLOCK (REAR JUNCTION BLOCK ECU) 

  4. READ VALUE OF INTELLIGENT TESTER OR TECHSTREAM (STOP LIGHT) 
    1. Disconnect the connectors in the following order: rear combination light (LH, RH), rear light (LH, RH).
    2. Using the intelligent tester or Techstream, read the Data List.
      1. Intelligent tester

        BODY NO.4 

        INTELLIGENT TESTER - BODY NO. 4

        HINT:

        Disconnect the RH connector, then the LH connector. If the display changes to "Normal", it can be determined that the disconnected light is malfunctioning.

    B: REPLACE REAR COMBINATION LIGHT ASSEMBLY (See  REMOVAL   ) 

    C: REPLACE REAR LIGHT ASSEMBLY (See  REMOVAL   ) 

    A: GO TO NEXT STEP 

  5. READ VALUE OF INTELLIGENT TESTER OR TECHSTREAM (REAR JUNCTION BLOCK ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the connectors in the following order: rear junction block ECU connector S63, S64.
    2. Using the intelligent tester or Techstream, read the Data List.
      1. Intelligent tester

        BODY NO.4 

        INTELLIGENT TESTER - BODY NO. 4

        STOP LGT Tr. States of stop light/OK or Break OK: Stop light circuit is normal
        Break: Stop light circuit is malfunctioning

  6. READ VALUE OF INTELLIGENT TESTER OR TECHSTREAM (CENTER STOP LIGHT) 
    1. Disconnect the connectors in the following order: Center stop light.
    2. Using the intelligent tester or Techstream, read the Data List.
      1. Intelligent tester

        BODY NO.4 

        INTELLIGENT TESTER - BODY NO. 4

        H-M STP LGT Tr. States of high mount stop light/ OK or Break OK: High mount stop light circuit is normal
        Break: High mount stop light circuit is malfunctioning
        Confirm that brake pedal is pressed
      2. Techstream

    B: REPLACE CENTER STOP LIGHT ASSEMBLY (See  REMOVAL   ) 

    A: GO TO NEXT STEP 

  7. READ VALUE OF INTELLIGENT TESTER OR TECHSTREAM (REAR JUNCTION BLOCK ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the connectors in the following order: rear junction block ECU connector S62.
    2. Using the intelligent tester or Techstream, read the Data List.
      1. Intelligent tester

        BODY NO.4 

        INTELLIGENT TESTER - BODY NO. 4

        H-M STP LGT Tr. States of high mount stop light/ OK or Break OK: High mount stop light circuit is normal

    B: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    A: REPLACE LUGGAGE ROOM JUNCTION BLOCK (REAR JUNCTION BLOCK ECU) 

  8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (LICENSE PLATE LIGHT - REAR JUNCTION BLOCK ECU AND BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the S63 ECU connector.
    2. Disconnect the S37 light connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance 

      LICENSE PLATE LIGHT - REAR JUNCTION BLOCK ECU AND BODY GROUND

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      S63-15(LCE2)-S37-1 (B) Always Below 1 Ω
      S37-2 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      S63-15 (LCE2) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 

  9. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (REAR LIGHT - REAR JUNCTION BLOCK ECU AND BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the S63 ECU connector.
    2. Disconnect the S33 and S41 light connectors.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance: for LH 

      REAR LIGHT - REAR JUNCTION BLOCK ECU AND BODY GROUND LH

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      S63-14 (TIL3) - S33-2 (T/ P) Always Below 1 Ω
      S63-4 (STP3) - S33-1 (B) Always Below 1 Ω
      S33-4 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      S63-14 (TIL3) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      S63-4 (STP3) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      for RH 

      REAR LIGHT - REAR JUNCTION BLOCK ECU AND BODY GROUND RH

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      S63-13 (TIL4) - S41-2 (T/ P) Always Below 1 Ω
      S63-4 (STP3) - S41-1 (B) Always Below 1 Ω
      S41-4 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      S63-13 (TIL4) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      S63-4 (STP3) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 

  10. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (REAR COMBINATION LIGHT - REAR JUNCTION BLOCK ECU AND BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the S64 ECU connector.
    2. Disconnect the S51 and S52 light connectors.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance: 

      for LH 

      REAR COMBINATION LIGHT - REAR JUNCTION BLOCK ECU AND BODY GROUND LH

      S64-3 (TIL2) - S51-3 (TL) Always Below 1 Ω
      S64-9 (STP2) - S51-1 (STP) Always Below 1 Ω
      S51-4 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      S64-3 (TIL2) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      S64-9 (STP2) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      for RH 

      REAR COMBINATION LIGHT - REAR JUNCTION BLOCK ECU AND BODY GROUND RH

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      S64-7 (TIL1) - S52-3 (TL) Always Below 1 Ω
      S64-10 (STP1) - S52-1 (STP) Always Below 1 Ω
      S52-4 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      S64-7 (TIL1) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      S64-10 (STP1) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 

  11. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (CENTER STOP LIGHT - REAR JUNCTION BLOCK ECU AND BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the S62 ECU connector.
    2. Disconnect the S20 light connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance 

      CENTER STOP LIGHT - REAR JUNCTION BLOCK ECU AND BODY GROUND

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      S62-6 (STP4) - S20-1 (B) Always Below 1 Ω
      S20-2 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      S62-6 (STP4) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: REPLACE LUGGAGE ROOM JUNCTION BLOCK (REAR JUNCTION BLOCK ECU)
