Problem Symptoms Table

Use the tables below to help determine the cause of the problem symptom. The potential causes of the symptoms are listed in order of probability in the "Suspected Area" column of the table. Check each symptom by checking the suspected areas in the order they are listed. Replace parts as necessary.

Radio 

PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE (RADIO)

Symptom Suspected area Reference
Radio not operating when power switch turned ON. Radio not operating when power switch turned ON. RADIO NOT OPERATING WHEN POWER SWITCH TURNED ON 
Display indicates when power switch turned ON, but no sound (including noise) is produced. Display indicates when power switch turned ON but no sound cannot be heard and noise is produced DISPLAY INDICATES WHEN POWER SWITCH TURNED ON BUT NO SOUND CANNOT BE HEARD AND NOISE IS PRODUCED 
Noise present, but AM/FM not operating. 1. No sound can be heard from speakers (audio is mute) NO SOUND CAN BE HEARD FROM SPEAKERS 
2. Radio receiver assembly -
Any speaker does not work. Only sound of radio cannot be heard from any speakers. ONLY SOUND OF RADIO CANNOT BE HEARD FROM ANY SPEAKERS 
Any AM or FM does not work. Only 2 or 3 radio stations can be preset ONLY 2 OR 3 RADIO STATIONS CAN BE PRESET 
Few preset turning bands. Only 2 or 3 radio stations can be preset ONLY 2 OR 3 RADIO STATIONS CAN BE PRESET 
Reception poor. Radio broadcast cannot be received (poor reception). RADIO BROADCAST CANNOT BE RECEIVED OR POOR RECEPTION 
Sound quality poor. Radio sound quality is poor. RADIO SOUND QUALITY IS POOR 
Preset memory disappears. Preset memory disappears. PRESET MEMORY DISAPPEARS 

Tape Player 

PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE (TAPE PLAYER)

Cassette tape cannot be inserted. Cassette tape cannot be inserted or played. CASSETTE TAPE CANNOT BE EJECTED 
Cassette tape inserted, but no power. Cassette tape inserted but cassette tape player does not operate. CASSETTE TAPE INSERTED BUT CASSETTE TAPE PLAYER DOES NOT OPERATE 
Power coming in, but tape player not operating. Cassette tape player has power but cassette tape player does not operate. CASSETTE TAPE INSERTED BUT CASSETTE TAPE PLAYER DOES NOT OPERATE 
Any speaker does not work. Only sound cassette tape cannot be heard from any speakers ONLY SOUND OF CASSETTE TAPE CANNOT BE HEARD FROM ANY SPEAKERS 
Sound quality poor. Sound quality is bad only when playing tape SOUND QUALITY IS BAD ONLY WHEN PLAYING TAPE 
Tape jammed, malfunction with tape speed or auto-reverse. Tape is tangled due to incorrect tape speed or auto-reverse. TAPE IS TANGLED DUE TO INCORRECT TAPE SPEED OR AUTO-REVERSE MALFUNCTION 
Cassette tape does not eject. Cassette tape cannot be ejected. CASSETTE TAPE CANNOT BE EJECTED 

CD Player 

PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE (CD PLAYER)

CD cannot be inserted. CD cannot be inserted or is ejected right after insertion CD cannot be Ejected

Power coming in, but CD player not operating. CD player has power but does not operate. CD PLAYER HAS POWER BUT DOES NOT OPERATE 
Sound jumps. CD sound skips CD SOUND SKIPS 
Sound quality poor (Volume faint) Sound quality is bad only when CD is played (volume is too low). SOUND QUALITY IS BAD ONLY WHEN CD IS PLAYED (VOLUME IS TOO LOW) 
Any speaker does not work. Only sound of CD cannot be heard fro any speakers. ONLY SOUND OF CD CANNOT BE HEARD FROM ANY SPEAKERS 
CD cannot be ejected. CD cannot be ejected. CD cannot be Ejected 

Power amplifier

Noise

Steering pad switch
