Engine Unit: Removal

  1. INSTALL ENGINE ON ENGINE STAND 
    1. Install the engine onto an engine stand with the bolts.
  2. REMOVE ENGINE HANGER 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts and 2 engine hangers
  3. REMOVE ENGINE WIRE 
    1. Remove the engine wire
  4. REMOVE FRONT NO. 1 ENGINE MOUNTING BRACKET RH 
    1. Remove the 4 bolts and front No 1 engine mounting bracket RH

  5. REMOVE FRONT NO. 1 ENGINE MOUNTING BRACKET LH 
    1. Remove the 4 bolts and front No 1 engine mounting bracket LH

  6. REMOVE WIRE HARNESS CLAMP BRACKET 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts and 2 wire harness clamp brackets
  7. REMOVE TRANSMISSION BREATHER ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  8. REMOVE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  9. REMOVE INJECTOR DRIVER  (See REMOVAL )

  10. DISCONNECT WATER BY-PASS HOSE 
    1. Slide the 3 clamps, and disconnect the water bypass pipe hose, No. 3 water by-pass hose and No 9 water by-pass hose from the water by-pass pipe sub-assembly

  11. REMOVE INTAKE AIR SURGE TANK ASSEMBLY REMOVAL
  12. REMOVE NO. 3 COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  13. REMOVE FUEL PRESSURE PULSATION DAMPER ASSEMBLY (for Direct Injection)  (See REMOVAL )
  14. REMOVE NO. 3 FUEL PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  15. REMOVE NO. 2 FUEL PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  16. REMOVE ENGINE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Bank 1)  (See REMOVAL )
  17. REMOVE ENGINE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Bank 2)  (See REMOVAL )
  18. REMOVE FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY (for Bank 1)  (See REMOVAL )
  19. REMOVE FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY (for Bank 2)  (See REMOVAL )
  20. REMOVE FUEL PUMP SPACER 
    1. Remove the 2 fuel pimp spacers.
  21. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  22. REMOVE NO. 2 ENGINE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY LH  (See REMOVAL )
  23. REMOVE NO. 4 FUEL PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  24. REMOVE SEPARATOR CASE  (See REMOVAL )
  25. REMOVE NO. 2 FUEL DELIVERY PIPE (for Direct Injection)  (See REMOVAL )
  26. REMOVE FUEL DELIVERY PIPE (for Direct Injection)  (See REMOVAL )
  27. REMOVE FUEL INJECTOR ASSEMBLY (for Direct Injection)  (See REMOVAL )
  28. REMOVE FUEL INJECTOR SEAL  (See REMOVAL )
  29. REMOVE NO. 5 ENGINE WIRE 
    1. Disconnect the 4 knock sensor connectors.
    2. Remove the 2 bolts and No. 5 engine wire.

  30. REMOVE NO. 4 ENGINE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the engine cover

  31. REMOVE NO. 2 IDLER PULLEY SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the bolt and No 2 idler pulley sub-assembly
  32. REMOVE OIL PUMP DRIVE SHAFT PULLEY  (See REMOVAL )
  33. REMOVE WATER PUMP PULLEY  (See REMOVAL )

  34. REMOVE INLET WATER HOUSING 
    1. Remove the hose clamp and disconnect the water inlet hose

    2. Remove the 3 bolts, inlet water housing and gasket.

  35. REMOVE ENGINE OIL PRESSURE SWITCH ASSEMBLY 
    1. Using a deep socket wrench (24 mm) remove the engine oil pressure switch assembly
  36. REMOVE OIL TEMPERATURE SENSOR  (See REMOVAL )
  37. REMOVE ENGINE OIL LEVEL SENSOR  (See REMOVAL )

  38. REMOVE NO. 2 WATER BY-PASS PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 3 hose clamps and disconnect the 3 water by-pass hoses
    2. Remove the 4 bolts and No 2 water by-pass pipe sub-assembly
  39. REMOVE E.F.I. ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR  (See REMOVAL )
  40. REMOVE KNOCK SENSOR  (See REMOVAL )
  41. REMOVE IGNITION COIL ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )

  42. REMOVE NO. 4 V-BANK COVER BRACKET SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the nut and No 4 V-bank cover bracket sub-assembly

  43. REMOVE NO. 3 V-BANK COVER BRACKET SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the bolt and No. 3 V-bank cover bracket sub-assembly
