Ignition Cable: Testing and Inspection

High Tension Lead Resistance Check:






1. Carefully check wires from end to end for cracked or burned insulation, damaged or loose terminals, swelling from contact with oil or any other obvious problems. Replace wires as required.
2. Check each wire for resistance. It should average 16K ohms per 3.28 feet (1 meter). Replace wires with excessive resistance.

NOTE: If replacement is indicated for one or more ignition wires, it is good practice to replace the entire set. Always route wires carefully, away from hot exhaust system surfaces and electronic components.
