Actuator Operation

  1. The cruise control module sends signals to the stepping motor housed in the cruise actuator. The stepping motor moves the accelerator pedal by means of the internal geartrain, electromagnetic coupling and actuator cable. The vehicle speed sensor sends the reference signal that the control module and compares it to the set speed. If a discrepancy exists, the control module actuates the stepping motor to adjust the accelerator pedal and maintain a constant vehicle speed. When accelerating, the accelerator pedal is moved as shown in the illustration.

  2. When any of switches operated by the brake, clutch or selector lever, the control module cancels the cruise control.
